The Roof of Appenzell Photo

Photographer’s Note

With 2502m the Säntis is not a high peak by swiss standarts, but the facts it culminated isolated over Appenzell and Toggenburg and that it is served by a cable car make it very visible from far around and also a popular destination, this image is from last sunday, a very nice spring day and shows the Swisscom communication antenna at its top, also called Barbara's big TV antenna ;-)

On a notebook such as mine the snow may appear overexposed, in fact it is not but I have placed the highlights very close to 255 on purpose.

Holderio ... was hast denn da oben gemacht, bei MEINER Antenne??? Die darf nur ICH fotografieren!!! Lustigerweise habe ich letzthin auch daran gedacht hochzufahren (wahrscheinlich hast Du gedanklich nach Unterwasser gebeamt), meistens gehe ich aber im Herbst, dann wenn der Nebel im Tal liegt. Das koennte man wiederholen ... gell! Tolles Bild mit tiefblauem Himmel, die Antenne sticht total gut raus. Liebe Gruesse, aus den Niederungen, Barbara.

Point de surexposition sur mon nouvel écran (ViewSonic 22 pouces) ! Comme à l'accoutumée, une photo très bien construite quant au cadrage et le sujet ressort à merveille.

On dirait un porte-plume géant !!
L'expo est parfaite je trouve. La neige n'est pas surex. On en voit nettement les nuances. Le contraste avec ce bleu profond est vraiment très bon.
Un sommet qui doit représenter un parfait point de vue ! Superbe.

This is an interesting scene! The vertical format is perfect here allowing us to see the full height of the tower in closeup detail. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF. The deep blue sky provides nice contrast to the snow covered mountain.

An eyecatching object and an eyecatching picture with a skillful compositioin! This sky really is more than wonderful and it creates a great backdrop to these buildings and the snow. I've often seen Säntis from Bodensee. The technical quality of the photo is first class!

A fascinating composition, the way the strong reds and greens stand out even though the overall blue and white colors are themselves strong. And the snow is not over-exposed - not an easy thing to do! Very well managed.

C'est bien la première fois que je vois une cheminée avec des fenêtres! Si en plus elle a un joli nom, ça la rend alors tout a fait sympathique! J'aime beaucoup le contraste de style entre le batiment qui domine fait de pierres avec de jolis volets et les autres constuctions au style beaucoup plus futuriste. Bravo aussi pour le fantastique ciel qui sera, je l'éspère, à l'image du week-end à venir( j'ai cependant comme un doute?)

Bonjour, JY. On croirait voir une version moderne d'Objectif Lune. Une composition bien équilibrée où la tour se détache très bien sur le ciel. Excellente maîtrise des couleurs. On pourrait aussi donner un cours d'histoire de l'architecture en montrant les styles de différentes époques.

Do you play bowling game at such a top of the mountain in Switzerland? This antenna seems a very slim pin of ten-pin bowling. The needle in your post before last was this!

Ce truc pointu est vraiment étonnant et ses couleurs permettent de mettre encore plus en évidence ton ciel bleu qu'on ne présente plus. Une maitrise totale de l'exposition et pas la moindre surexposition à se mettre sous la dent (on aurait bien aimé pour pouvoir critiquer au moins une fois tes productions -))

Compo excellente et cadrage plein de couleurs et de lumière. Le point de l'antenne est peut-être un peu trop proche de la limite supérieure de l'ensemble de l'image, mais l'ensemble est agréable.

Take photos of snow seems a dificult work. The white reflect very well the sun lights, but you manage very well the lights resulting in a pretty photo. I like the red of the antena constrating very well with the blue sky.

Great shot with beautiful light, colours and details. I like this peak with the buildings on top against this beautiful deep blue sky. It reminds of the buildings on top of Jungfraujoch, it's amazing how they can build something at such an elevation. Great work!

Superbe carte postale du Säntis, j'aime bien ton titre "the roof of Appenzel". Mais ce toit parait bien haut pour les appenzellois, car ej ne sais pas si tu le sais, mais en Suisse, qui n'est pas grande, les Appenzellois sont considérés commme les plus petits...et il y a de nombreuses blagues à ce sujet.
Par exemple, Tu sais pourquoi il n'y a pas de parking à vélo en Appenzel?
Et bien parce qu'il appuie simplement leur vélo contre les bordure de trottoir....

C'est lumineux et bien 'clean'! on peut apprécier l'expo faisant bien ressortir le blanc immaculé de la neige, la petite maison rose avec ses volets verts. l'impact graphique de l'antenne, (qui depuis la vignette m'a fait penser à une fusée ;) est accentué par le format vertical. le ciel est magnifiquement bleu!!

comme d'habitude ,chez toi,je suis impressionée par la beauté des couleurs,le bleu,le blanc!Et la photo est si bien construite!L'antenne la remplit parfaitement,mais il y a aussi tous ces triangles à ses pieds(le rocher,le toit,le tas de neige)si bien qu'on a l'impression que toutes les lignes cherchent à s'élever vers le ciel!Oups,je dois être encore sous l'effet du pétard fumé avec mon saddhou!

Ca c'est le bleu pur des sommets... De magnifiques contrastes dans cette photo tant dans les couleurs que les lumières. Cadrage nickel, j'aime beaucoup l'équilibre de l'image. Pas de point de vue du haut de cette antenne ???

Impressionnante cette antenne... au moins ils ont eu le bon goût de la décorer d'une jolie couleur! C'est rigolo aussi ces moules pour oeufs de Pâques géants repérés par notre ami Barni. :o)
Une exposition parfaite avec une neige encore étincelante pour la saison. Il faudra que je vienne gravir ce sommet un jour....

Je ne connaissais pas ce sommet du Säntis. Les couleurs sont vives et le ciel d'un bleu profond parfaitement exposé. On se demande quand la fusée va décoller!

Salut La Terreur des ondes !
Un relais très futuriste beaucoup plus esthétique que celui du Pic de la Nore dans l'Aude (1220 m)
On se demande quelle vue on peut observer depuis le vieux bâtiment.
Une prise de vue en contre-bas qui met bien en valeur ton sujet.

this is one of the most fantastic sights/objects which I have ever seen! This is a TV antenna?? LOL
Well, what special can I say about this picture? I am much impressed by the colours, excellent sharpness and, of course, first and foremost, the composition!
this makes me almost want to go to the Swiss mountains again, though after my 1999 trip to Engelberg I promised never to step into the mountains - I got soooo tired of walking about them then!:)
