The Double Full Moon Country Photo

Photographer’s Note

Yesterday was full moon and I took advantage of the super clear weather we have these days to try my first moonlight image, this image is not a blue hour image, as you can see it has been shot long after the blue hour but it shows how clear the night sky is here and being lit by the moon light it makes the blue hour appear again.

So we got double full moon here because other than the natural full moon, the term "Vollmond" (full moon) designates here a popular special beer from the Locher brewery in Appenzell...

Interesting, in Dutch "vol mond" means "full mouth"... (which can be a name for a beer as well..:))

The shot is so pleasant, with nice blue light, well managed except for the little OE parts, the ski trails make nice leading lines...

Guten Morgen, Jean Yves, oder eigentlich ist es schon Mittag :))) Schaust anderen in die Stube, soso! Teufen "Zur blauen Stunde" (toent wie eines der vielen Restaurants ...). Ich trinke immer wieder mal ein Appenzeller Bier, biologisch versteht sich. Die Appenzeller sind halt etwas aberglaeubisch, darum auch die vielen Heiler und ihre Wundermitteli, wem's hilft, wer weiss, wohl solls bekommen. Wunderschoener Sternenhimmel, was fuer eine Nacht, die blaue Stunde, Deine Stunde. Toll ... Viele Gruesse ... Barbara.

nothing like a "Vollmond" to warm you up inside! ;-) Wonderful shot that indeed looks like it was taken during the blue hour. The house in the middle might want to re-think its choice of curtain color. The glowing red light reminds me of something that I don't suppose you have in the middle of your new town...

Salut JY, hope you had a good start into 2009 in your new home. This is a very nice shot, impeccably exposed. I like the foreground tracks in the snow leading the eye into the direction of the warming light emerging from the windows.

C'est vrai que la pleine Lune d'hier était incroyable et qu'il a fait clair toute la soirée... On aurait dit qu'un spot géant était allumé... ;-) !
Je trouve que les proportions dans ton image sont idéales... l'image est bien partagée entre ciel, maisonnettes et neige ! Le tout donne un effet très hivernal, typique et villageois.

une photo de JY sans l'heure bleue ne serai pas normal, alors celle ci fait partie de ce qui se fait de mieux en matiére d'heure bleue, un village suisse sous la neige avec ces couleurs tiptop, une grande et belle image bravo l'artiste

30' d'exposition , le temps de boire une "Vollmond" et la photo est dans la boite, cet éclairage un peu particulier donne de bon résultat, surtout un joli ciel parsemé d'étoiles.

Tu sais toujours aller trouver l'heure bleue même au plus profond de la nuit!!
Une belle réalisation avec ces touches de couleurs qui viennent bien égayer ces tons à dominante bleue!!

Superbe luminosité et couleurs splendides - tous les pixels terriblement bien réussis, naturellement ;-)
Chez nous la clarté est intense aussi, pas seulement hier, ce soir également - je regarde par la fenêtre et je vois les ombrages des arbres sur la neige, c'est impressionnant, de toute beauté.
En regardant ton image, j'ai le goût d'aller dehors prendre une photo, mais le thermomètre (-20°C) et l'heure (22h45) me découragent ;-)

Je reconnais déjà ce petit coin de Suisse. ;-)
Cette vue à l'heure (tardive et étonnante à 3 heure...) se devait d'être postée par l'expert de la discipline. Une bonne exposition t'as permis de conserver des lumières urbaine très bien gérée. Tu aurais presque pu fermer encore un peu plus le diaphragme afin de ce pas griller les lumière proche de l'église. (Eglise qui semble avoir un bon potentiel soit dit en passant...)

The last two days the moon has 30% more light and was 15% bigger then the smallest one in 2008. It was a great night and this is a great picture too.

it's a very "cosy" scene. It looks very inviting and warm, with these brightly lit house windows and some lights far in the distance. Though the night is dark, it really isn't so dark - it's clear, it is filled with pellucid air.
..and an excellent composition, of course :)

Very interesting shot. I've also had the idea to shoot at night by moonlight, but with disappointing results so far. You can actually see stars in this if you look close enough. Great idea and a nice result!

Effectivement c'est plus bleu que l'heure bleu, lol. Comme je suis pas aussi maniac que certains pourrait le croire, j'aime bien cette bande de rideaux rouges éclairés pour donner un point focal.

Bit of pun here, whether intended or not: a "double full moon" - that is, two full months in the same calendar month - is called a "blue moon," as in the phrase, "once in a blue moon," since it happens about every 3 years. ("Blue moon" used to have a different meaning, but that's how we use it now.) And since this is a "blue hour" shot, I took it as having a double meaning.

And it is a very nice mood shot, with great light control. I like the bits of strong light showing through (even the red!), as well as the moonlight reflecting off the snow. That hints at the full moon without actually showing it.

Bonne gestion de la lumière pour cette photo prise au clair de lune (un exercice que je n'ai encore jamais essayé). Il me semble reconnaître cette grande bâtisse et si mes soupçons sont corrects alors je constate que tu as rattrapé la couleur extérieure du chalet par la déco intérieure ! :o))

The 'dark blue bottle' sky looks transluscent, doesn't give us that chilly effect despite the snowcapped hills behind. I like the shot...of that Vollmond!
