Photographer’s Note

This is a view taken this morning after a cold night and showing the center of my new village dominated by the sunday Papagolfade, Teufen faces the south which garanties maximum sun throughout the day, and its center features well the charm of an Appenzell village, most houses date from the end of the XIXth/beginning of the XXth century and their most surprising characteristic is the room height usually between 1m80 and 2m00, mine has 1m90 and me being 1m77 high it is just enough, older houses from the XVIIIth century can have up to 1m75, I suspect the blue one on the extreme right could be one of those.

beautiful winter shot. Snow is on its way for my region as well (at least that's what I hope). The composition is quite nice, I particularly like how you've managed to include the entire fence at the bottom of the picture. I somehow feel like it could use a bit of added contrast though. Nonetheless a very scenic shot of a beautiful subject.

Salut Monsieur :)))) Na ich hoffe doch schwer, dass Du auch in der Kirche warst! Oder aber Du bist aufgewacht ab dem Gebimmel und konntest nicht mehr schlafen und es blieb Dir nichts anderes uebrig als die Kamera zu packen und rauszugehen. GRINS. So oder anders, diese Doerfer sind unheimlich huebsch, fuer mich auf jeden Fall, sie sind urchig, sie snd wie sie immer waren und ich hoffe, dass es auch noch ein wenig zu bleibt. Sieht kalt aus ... Happy Sunday ... ich gehe jetzt noch zwei drei Stunden raus bevor es runter geht nach Zuerich, muss den Christbaum entsorgen etc. :))) Barbara.

PS. Die Tochter meiner Nachbarin hier oben in Unterwasser ist 1.80 gross. Das Haus hat eine Decke von ich weiss nicht 1.79 :)))

The light is wonderful JY; a kind of hazy gentle light; not enough to melt the snow. You have framed it well with the church top left, surveying its parish. They are very small rooms. What if you were 2m tall as many people are? Ricardo has a theme for Sunday Papagolfades if you want to add this one to it.

Now that is a Christmas card shot! I get chilled just looking at it! ;-) It does look just a touch hazy; perhaps a bit of Curve work is called for. On the other hand, it also looks good this way, which makes it a matter of taste.

Alors ton bled a l'air gla gla gla donc pas de Pixelday en hiver stp ;-).
Sympa la barrière et route qui tirent l'oeil vers les maisons. L'église est bien placée en haut à gauche. C'est où la maison jaune ??? Ou c'est celle en rouge que tu as repeint.

Olá JY, that's a beautiful village too cold for my standards though. But you can move around on skis and I envy you for that. Right from this POV and with good speed I bet I can reach the hill on the other side of the village :) So, you can't stretch your arms up to the ceiling...that must be a bit claustrophobic. On the other hand, the roof of the church compensates that ;-)

I haven't made it to Teufen yet, but it seems to be a lot like Buchenberg, except the houses are a bit older. Wonderfully sharp image of your new home town!
In Kempten, I used to live in a house that was built in the 1500s and had a room height of 1,75. Would you believe that I had to paint the ceiling more often than the walls? Because everyone that came to visit said, "wow, what a low ceiling" and proceeded to clean their hands on it!!

Salut Jean-Yves. Cela ressemble la Belgique pour l'instant (je rigole). Une belle photo typique pour ce qui est la vraie Suisse (enfin, c'est le cliché que nous avons ici dans les plats pays ;-)). Intéressante remarque: ici c'est la même chose avec les maisons: plus qu'elles sont vieilles plus qu'elles sont bas (comme les gens d'ailleurs). Bien à toi!

J'aime beaucoup cette composition où le village se poudre de blanc. L'église reste majestueuse et son clocher dédaigne la neige ou le givre, elle surplombe joliment l'ensemble.

I've never been to Switzerland in winter! Both times I was there in summer and in spring... but I think it's really very beautiful in winter, like a fairy-tale, when everything is shining in the sun and the roads and fields and cosy-looking houses are covered with pure snow.
Maybe next time I should go there in winter...

Salut JY, je connais cette ville appenzel uniquement via son fromage, très bon s'il en est. Superbe cette vue sur cette bourgade enneigée, la photo est superbement construite et graphiquemebnt elle me plait beaucoup.
La petite va très bien ! elle a 3 mois 1/2, 6k5 pour 63 cm, ça pousse ça pousse :-)

This is a truly lovely photo a your village. The road and the fence tend to lead your eye into the scene.The church looks great on the left looking down onto the village.
I was in Switzerland two weeks ago and I have never seen so much snow. On my travels by train through the countryside I saw many similar villages all with their covering of snow which made them look like picture postcards.
