Photographer’s Note

It has been snowing quite much here in the last two weeks, and some rare moments of sunshine revealed a winter wonderland landscape. This image taken on the south facing mountainside above Gais shows you that even though public transport is excellent here sometimes it is safer to rely on the good old ageless techniques to get to your home...

Bonjour jean Yves,

Les traces nous guide vers cette magnifique habitation. Les courbes du relief qui joue à cache cache avec les trace donne un super effet. Le contraste est intéressant entre les deux bâtisse. Très jolie composition et une belle luminosité.

J aime bien la composition qui s appuie sur les traces pour nous conduire vers le point fort de l image qui est le chalet en bois devant le rideau d arbres. Tres bon rendu de la texture sur la neige.

alors là c'est le chalet exactement qu'il me faut pour ma retraite dans la montagne au calme en bois dans les arbres, la neige c'est accessoire , superbe cadrage avec ces traces qui nous menent droit sur le chalet, bien vu comme d'hab

Hi Jean Yves,

a nice winter scene... the warm wooden colors contrast very well with the snow and the ski trails are a beautiful adition and gives depth to the image, I like it a lot.

Comme le dit Gilbert, on est au calme ici....enfin pour y passer la retraite c'est autre chose....pelleter de la neige chaque matin, très peu pour moi. Joli cadrage avec ces traces qui nous conduisent vers le chalet d'Heidi où le ciel est toujours bleu!

la trace qui mène au chalet est un super fil conducteur qui permet de traverser cet espace blanc pour pouvoir atteindre le bar prés de la cheminée.

A voir ta photo, on a envie de se repasser les airs de Noël (et de redéballer les cadeaux:-))Le cadrage "aux ras des paquerettes" permet de bien ressentir la texture de toute cette neige fraîche. Nos yeux sont agréablement portés par les traces de skis jusqu'à ce beau chalet aux couleurs qui réchauffent l'atmosphère. Le ciel est d'un bleu intense qui fait rever.
Très chouette!

je ois que tu as optimise les creneaux de beau temps.
Sympa le cadrage et cette trace qui nous guide tout droit vers cette belle habitation, j adore la couleur du vieux bois travaille par le soleil.

Wow luminous and pleasant shot, the white has been really beautifully rendered. The pleasing blue sky like having used a polarizing filter is definitely your blue.
i found the technique to get similar effect in ps at last even if not using a polarizing filter. it was my study shortage. it's too late.

Belle utilisation de ces traces de skieurs pour nous guider à travers l'image afin de nous la faire découvrir. La maison en arrière plan est peut-être un peu trop serrée à droite. Je vois que toi aussi, tu croules sous la neige ! Le décor est splendide !

I'll be right behind you on this track, JY. Nice home you have there - Plenty of rooms for a big TE meeting ;-) Gorgeous winter landscape full of snow and sunshine. It would be easy to get some overexposed whites but I can only see a wide range of white tones - impressive as expected from you.

Nous avons eu aussi en région parisienne beaucoup de neige mais surtout de la bouillasse pas assez belle pour mériter une photo.
Cette neige abondante sous le soleil fait resplendir le décor.
Une bonne idée ce premier plan avec ces traces de skis. La composition est tout à fait réussie.

Superb shot JY. You must keep it safe and use it for this year's Christmas cards. ;D The light on the little chalets is beautiful and the trees with their dusting of icing sugar complement them perfectly. Those ski tracks lead the eye right through the image just as you intended. Well done

Sometimes i would love such a pile of snow over here. These days it's only drizzle and fog.

Hallo ennet am Berg :))) Was fuer ein praechtiger Tag heute, ich habe den Saentis bereits bei Sonnenaufgang bestaunt. Unglaublich diese Schneemassen, auch hier drueben, und trotzdem liegt der Fruehling in der Luft. Ich liebe diese Haeuser und Deine Spuren im Schnee sind ein attraktiver Weg nach oben, das Auge geht mit. Meine Heimat wird beruehmt, TE macht es moeglich. Happy day, zuerst Lunch, dann wieder raus, nichts als raus in den Schnee. Barbara.

Jean Yves, I will add my comments to this one as it is certainly a WOW capture. Your handling of the exposure on the snow is perfect I think; right on the verge of being too bright to see comfortably yet not overexposed. Great work.
