Photographer’s Note

A window in what used to be Alvastra monestary, founded by Cistercian monks from Clairvaux in France 1143. Alvastra was Sweden's largest monastery and flourished for nearly 400 years until the reformation. The limestone material of the buildings became used in the making of Vadstena Castle and other buildings. 1898 the ruins was restored and perserved for the first time. It's a beautiful place well worth a visit, full of excellent photo opportunities. For more info on Alvastra monastery visit http://www.illustrata.com/pages/vadstena/alvastra/alvastra.html (excellent page).

I adjusted contrast and levels in my picture.
