Photographer’s Note
On Söder (South side) of Stockholm a sunny day in September. This part of Stockholm was a hundred years ago the blue collar town. Still many of the old little houses are left and give a nice atmosphere very different from the feeling in the downtown areas just ten minutes walk away.
It is special to me, this is the neighborhood where my father grew up and this is where we went to visit his father when I was a kid.
I came walking, turned into a short alley and suddenly had this view with the funny shadows in front of me. Just as my camera got ready the guy passed, then he was gone...

Very impressive B&W picture. The lines and shapes are strong and create fine graphism. I especially like the arrow in the centre pointing the direction of the shadows, opposing to the man. Greatly captured.

Your return to this neighborhood not only brought back childhood memories, but also a supremely graphical photo, Ebbe. Unbelievable at which angles you got the shadows cast on the wall here - my favorite is the lantern closely followed by the bending traffic sign. The pedestrian is a plus. Looks great in b&w which also enhances the texture of the wall quite well. Very cool; well seen and done.

Great pic there Ebbe. I like the high contrast, excellent shadows. I do think that top portion should be cropped though. There's almost nothing to be seen there and it makes the framing awkward. Cheers!

Great shadow shot, the strange shadow shapes in this sepia street make this feel quite unreal. I would crop it to accentuate this feeling. Very well timed, the man is necessary here. well done.

Wonderful B&W I like the shadows cast on the wall, the lone figure is a plus.

This is a wonderful b/w work. As if I'm looking thru a window. Light and especially the shadows are magnificent. Well done with the touching note Ebbe. Bravo.

Wonderful B&W work, Ebbe. Great composition with light and shadows - and the textures of the wall and sidewalk are great. I see a connection to your previous shot - what happens so often when we get advise to go one direction? We go the other, just like this man - looking in his hand if he has enough money for... ;o) But I guess he's just looking if he has got any SMS! Nice job and nice note - very well done!

Fantastic composition in B&W with wonderful light and shadows to outline in a fine way the simple details, Ebbe! Like the walking man - brings dynamic and life to it. Excellent job!

i don´t know whether i like the most in this picture the delicate textures and play of shadows on the wall or your note.
the title on the low right side disturbs me a bit... it´s a street, after all :))
very beautiful. one of my fav (yes, the 101st)

An excellent B/W composition, Ebbe. The shadows really make the shot. I especially like the shadow of the old street lamp. Great clarity. Well captured.

Your shot is great but it doesn't carry for me the light and sunny feeling that your title means.
Your photo is first class in many aspects, but it rather brings me to a more pessimistic title like "how humanhood went against all nature signs".
It's fantastic how everything in your shot including the shadows go with the arrow from right to left, except the human character.. ...who, quite sure of himself doesn't look ahead and eventually bumps his head on the first post to come or on the side wall :D .
(from this image analysis, you may guess I'm a consultant in daily life. Your image is a good metaphor of the attitude of some of our clients.)

Very distinctive capture Ebbe. I love the shadows as well, but I also appreciate how you've composed the image with drainpipe at the left, the angles of the roof above. There appears to be a hint of sepia as well that softens the image somewhat. Great vision and a camera at hand all add up to fine work.

Wonderfull and simple picture.
The shadows are strong, and we have enough details still in the wall.
You should just tell the guy he is goind the wrong way ;-)

Great shot ! Since I'm so fond of paradoxes, i like very much the guy walking in the opposite direction the arrow is pointing at.
When you look at the picture, it is almost like you want the guy to turn around so the sign will have a true purpose...
Well seen !

Hi Ebbe,
Nice use of light and shadows. The photo has a nostalgic atmosphere and gives the impression of been in a very calm place.
Good job!
