Winter is almost over for this year, so I thought I'll post my first and last winterphoto for this year.
This photo was taken on a cold winter day in February 1998 from the Västerbron in Stockholm allowing a view over some of the older parts of Stockholm with Kungsholmen left of the City hall and Riddarholmen on the right. There is some snow left on some of the roofs.
The bright nordic winter light is caused by the low altitude of the sun above the horizon and the reflections of the light on the snow. Midwinter it is getting dark at around 15.00 hours in Stockholm. This one, taken in February was probably taken around the same time.
If going to Stockholm during winter try going after mid January as usually the sky is clearing from the clouds (which also means it is getting colder).

Hi Harko, the light in this is incredible. It might be cold but you have the perfect angle here, keeping the water dark, but lighting up the foreshore and buildings. The colour of the sky is interesting too with the transition from gold up to the blue. Do you remember what kind of slide film it was?

Thats one of the reasons why the Swedish flag is Yellow and blue, because in midwinter the light is blistring golden yellow and everything thats in shadow goes cold blue.
Nice picture of my former hometown.
Hoppas allt är bra och att våren har fått resturangerna att ställa ut stolar.

Golden colors close to the blue hour. Good POV to show the panorama of this beautiful skandinavian cityline. Never been there, but my dreams tell me that I willbe there at least once.

You're right about the light--it's like sunset at noon! The colors are great, though perhaps somewhat oversaturated. Very nice panoramic framing--you really make Stockholm beautiful! Regards, Ken.

je m'arrête sur cette photo : le format est bien choisi car il permet d'équilibrer la prise et la lumière sur ces façades est superbe. Une belle qualité du post. Bravo

Ha Stockholm !!!! I have travel quite a lot around the world but for me Stockholm is one the two or three nicest town !!!
The light in the northern part of Europe is so typical and so nice.
I really like the softness of your light and the sharpness of all the details !!
