Photographer's Note

Borgholm Slott is one of the most recognizable buildings in Sweden and reflects more than 800 years of different architectural styles and construction techniques.

The castle, on the island of Oland, stands atop the slopes of the Landborg cliffs and overlooks Kalmarsund to the north. Though destroyed by fire in 1806, the basic limestone structure has been preserved and was made a National Historic Monument in 1929.

This view is from ground level looking up through the Vastra Tornet (west tower).
