Arvfurstens palace (on the left), was built between 1783 and 1794 as a residence for Princess Sophia Albertina. The buildings architect was Erik Palmstedt. When Sophia Albertina died the palace was passed on to the Crown Prince. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has resided in the building since 1906.

The Kungliga Operan or Royal Swedish Opera is the national stage for opera in Sweden. The original Stockholm Opera House, the work of architect Carl Fredrik Adelcrantz was commissioned by King Gustav III, a strong adherent of the ideal of an enlightened absolutism and as such was a great patron of the arts. Construction began in 1775 and the theatre was inaugurated on 30 September 1782 with a performance of the Danish composer Johann Gottlieb Naumann's Cora och Alonzo.
The building was very imposing with its center Corinthian tetrastyle portico supporting four statues and topped by the royal crown. The four-tiered auditorium was oval in shape, had excellent acoustics and sightlines. The sumptuous foyer contained neoclassic medallions and pilasters.
It was in the foyer of the opera house where the king met his fate: during a masquerade on March 16, 1792, he was shot by Jacob Johan Anckarström, and died several days later. (In turn, this event inspired the opera Un Ballo in Maschera by Verdi).

Hello George,
Les couleurs et la netteté sont les deux qualités principales de cette photo.
Le ciel est magnifique.
La scène est parfaitement cadrée.
Bien à toi

my overall evaluation -> :-))

The bright saturated colours resulting from that strong northern light make this shot almost jump out of the screen.
It has a real immediate impact.
Its a bit of a shame about the tilted building on the left, and its hard to tell whether it was due to a tilted camera or is the result of lens distortion, but I don't think it matters too much.
Great shot George, a welcome bit of sunshine on this grey English day.
Ben

Hello George: you make me weep with nostalgia. I knew this place very well. I remember a Claas Oldenburg sculpture on that square, whether is was a permanent installation or just a temporary display, I don't know.
Nice Summer picture with great colors and POV.
Cheers
Otto

Good days George.
Very good colors in your shot. The building on the left stands out even against the bright blue sky. I like the slight curve to the canal in the lower right, it seems to welcome your eyes into the shot. Good perspective.
Regards,
Chris

Hi George
Lovely shot and a beautiful scene you've captured here. I like the soft light, the warm colours and you pov which captures the curvature of the canal very well, to lead us into the scene. Excellent work.
