HSB Turning Torso - created by world famous architect Santiago Calatrava - is approaching it's finish and has reached an altitude of 190 meters (623 feet), becoming the second highest residential building in Europe.
A total of 54 floors including ten floors of offices, 147 apartments and meeting facilities on the two top floors. The view will be splendid overlooking the city of Malmö, the agricultural surroundings, the Öresund together with the bridge to Copenhagen and, of course, the Danish coastline.
The building is standing in a former industrial area, which is gradually being made into a place for living and working. Beginning with the housing exhibition Bo01 [Living01] this was later developed into the sea-side area called Västra Hamnen [Western Harbour], which will eventually house 10,000 people and accommodate an additional 20,000 who commute here to work or study.
Today this area is a mixture of still existing industries, newer office buildings, large construction sites, apartments and a board walk turned into an unofficial bathing place. But also a waterfront promenade, where outside cafés, bars and restaurants are teeming with young people enjoying life on sunny days and warm nights - just like this one...
And among all this stands the HSB Turning Torso!

I think this shot works really well. You have put us somewhere outside the city, looking in, which gives it a distinctive POV (not just visually, but emotionally). At the same time, it's not just any cityscape, but a particularly interesting one. I can't help loving that spine-like turning torso. Lastly, the image is very crisp and the lighting is great. Well done.

Hi Kaj, another outstanding night shot, perfectly framed. Gorgeous position of this tower, very clear with great exposition time. I like that you have included the dark part in the bottom contrasting nicely with the sky wich is not completely black. Everything is perfect here, this is great work, thanks for sharing and nice to see you back, I hope your PC problems a gone for long. Have a nice day.

Hai Kaj, what a sharp and clear night photo. The exposure is good and the other buildings around are clearly visible too.

And thanks for the note !

Another nice venture into nightshooting, Kaj. The 16 secs made for a very good clarity and a nice effect with the "starry" lights. The new modern building makes a fine subject that you off-centered nicely. Good work. Perhaps when the building is finished, you could return for a remake at a slightly earlier time of day with still some low daylight left in the sky - a very rewarding shooting time, too.

It's really looking impressive, Kaj. You composed the scene well to have that sort of watching over feel of the building looking out over the city. It has a sort of protective feel. The lighting is nicely captured. I like how the crane sparkles at the top of the tower. I can't wait to see it completed. And along with the bridge this would be something to draw me northward if I had the chance while in Italy. I certainly would like to see it and the view from it.

An excellent night shot, Kaj. The lighting is excellent. I like how we can see the buildings so clearly. The man-made 'stars' are also quite special. I think it must be amazing to operate a crane at such a height. Well framed.

Wow, that´s really impressing. The color of the sky is absolutely perfect for this pic. And the lights on the torso, yeah everything is great. Well done!

Beautiful scene of night in Malmo, I like much this building at the bottom, one would say a ship... Good technique

When I pulled up your shots the eye immediately was caught by the thumbnail of the screw. Really an amazing shot showing us this spectacular building in a different light.

A very good nightshot, sharp, well composed. I like the effects you obtained with the lights. This building is beautiful, but so strange all alone here. It really deserved a shot, thank you for sharing.

Hello , Kaj .
Another amazing photo .
I like your " in the middle of the night " photos .
I have not ( yet ) seen Turning Torso with my own eyes , but I think I might be able to see it on a clear day from the coast of Stevns .
I followed the construction with great interest when it was shown on the Discovery channel which also told about all the trouble until it was finally finished .
Excellent note too .
