Photographer’s Note
Through the centre of Stockholm, there are some very big roads and also a lot of train and metro lines. Stockholm really needs them, because some 4 million trips are made every day in Greater Stockholm and every year, trafic is increasing at a rate of 3-4 percent. For more info: www.trafikstockholm.com.
This is one of those big roads. I took this on the last evening I was in Stockholm, from a brigde. To the left is Gamla Stan (where the city started after it got city rights in 1250), the old centre of Stockholm and you can see a bit of it on the photo. The right is the townhall, but not visible on this photo.
--------------------------------------------------
About the photo: cropped, sharpened, contrasts, saturation and changed the colours a bit to create a colder atmosphere. I used the landscape function on my camera so that the exposure time was a bit longer which causes the lines of the lights.

Hi Stef, A nice long exposure shot. I like the abstract style of the appearance. The heavy traffic can be seen clearly on the highway. A well composed photo.

Very good long exposure process. The lines and lights came out very clear, Usually when you take a photo like this you got lights all over the place. This one seems the lights are all arrange in order. Good photo.

Zulke foto's zijn altijd erg leuk met die koplampen en achterlichten. Hoe lang heb je de lens ongeveer open gehad voor deze foto?

Hi, Stef. I like very much this kind of photos with these lines of car lights. I would like to see more of the city but like your photo as said especially because it reminded me that I have never taken this kind of photo and I have to. I am also interested in knowing more about data of your photo if you have them. Which was the aperture and exposure ?

Wonderful night composition with great motion Stef! I like the use of slow shutter speed, in order to cause the lines of the car lights.
Very good PP job!!

Hi Stef, I like the photo not just because the great lights and style , but also because it shows a reality common to most urban dwellers in the world, one of the true globalizing issues: traffic.

A most effective shot, Stef. The lights on the road, unlike so many night shots, are not flared, the tones nicely muted on the roadway itself. There is just enough detail in the dark to appreciate the balance and perspective you have achieved. Nicely done. (And a valuable tip on a possible good additional use for the camera's landscape function.) Regards, John.

Stef wow this is a change a pace for you! I like the execution of this shot a great deal. I think you nailed the exposure time well. I don't see any noise at all. Very nice job there Stef!

Dag Stef,
Goed werk!
Goed weekend.

interesting photo, it looks a little like space riders here with red and white beams of light, however the lamps on the sides have a purple fringe, but it is nice

Good shot of this road Stef. The long exposure makes an interesting effect of the passing cars. Good depth and perspective by the sloped curve of the road. Nice one.

Good night picture. I liked your note, with the description of how you did it. It was useful for me because I still don't know much about night pictures (I'm still learning photography). Good job! Regards!

Hi Stef,
Mooie tijd opname. Jammer dat je de sluitertijd niet hebt vermeld anders konden we de snelheid van de auto gaan berekenen.
groet Rob

Im a fan of these types of night time shots, where the long exposure creates these long lines.
Well done : )
