Taken from a bridge on my way back to a ship that functions now as a hostel. My favorite time of day for photography, as I'm sure it is for most, is when the ambient light mixes nicely with the artificial lights of buildings. I checked "yes" to the tripod box, but really I just balanced the camera on the railing and used the self- timer. Perhaps the bridge can be called a bipod, spanning the water?
The dramatic backlight was provided by a construction crane. It was about -16c, and they were working on a new tunnel under the water. Very tough people, the Swedes!

well, what can i say?
this is a perfectly executed photo.
love the blue hour light, the sweeping clouds, the broken ice, and the splashes of orange/yellow lights.

Marvellous atmospheric shot Andrew. Love the glittering ice on the river and the sky which is full of movement. Together they add such drama to the river-side buildings. Lovely work. Warm regards Rosemary

A fine image Andrew. Enchanting lights and reflections. there is a sparkle in the water thanks to the floating ice. Wonderful colours. best wishes. Klaudio.

It is indeed a great time of day for photographing - the light is superb and otherworldly!
That building with spires on its roof draws attention to itself immediately - like a fairytale palace towering above the rest.
You used some kind of filter, if I'm correct, and the result is truly amazing - such sharpness and clarity in low ISO conditions.
Congratulations on a great photo!

Hi Andrew - a really outstanding blue hour shot of icy Sodermalm. This angle is superb, with the bright searchlight over the water and the wonderful houseboat taking up the FG with the shoreline stretching away from it. And those clouds are incredible - perfectly placed. All around beautiful. Thanks!
