Old vs. new: Malmö City Library Photo

Photographer’s Note

After my little trip to Italy, I return to Scandinavia again. :D

This is the City Library in the city of Malmö in Skåne, Southern Sweden. The city Kent shows us quite often :-)

I like this building very much, especially because of the beautiful modern extension. The extension was designed by the Dane Henning Larsen, who also designed the new Opera-building in Copenhagen. Inside, the library is very nice as well.
The library is a good exemple of the Scandinavian architecture, which is very good in combining old and new architecture. Other exemples are Statens Museum for Kunst and Den Sorte Diamant, both in Copenhagen.
I took this picture in June after having crossed one of my favourite bridges :)

Detta foto visar Malmö Stadsbibliotek, som jag besökte i juni. Jag tycker om byggnaden, derför att den förenar både gammal och ny arkitektur.

Nice examples of architecture - and funny to see how both old and new build with round shapes. Thanks Lars for taking us to Sweden - I never visit the centre of Malmø - too bad.

Kewl to see my hometown from another lens than mine.
It's a great building and as you point out it's from a quite famous danish arhitect

The architect found a good solution for the meeting from old and new. A very difficult problem in modern architecture. An other example of such a succesful meeting is m.i. found in Copenhagen by the Statens Museum for Kunst. Staten Museum
In my opinion the colours are a little colourful than in real. I’ll try to reach my memory in the workshop.
