Taken from a walkbridge on the last Sunday of November. Wet snow, a low sun and heavy clouds puts a soft wet blanket over nature, cities, minds and photography.
Just tried to to play with the lines and lack of colors in a landscape formed by dirty tracks. A very familiar sight to all Scandinavians. The snow is beautiful in any shape on a sunny day but without the light the beauty is not that obvious.

J'adore ce genre d'images très graphique!
dom_inik_m (1717) 2004-12-04 8:02
As riveting as usual, obviously! Well, I know, I need to find new superlatives to comment on how your pictures catch my eye, Ebbe... ;-)
What I like the most here is not the way all those tracks intersect, but the essential role of traffic lights, acting like beacons in a white wilderness, guiding cars when all landmarks are obliterated by snow. A new world to reconquer, again and again... and a most interesting sight to catch, by lifting up the "soft wet blanket" you refer to.
A fine addition to the Exploring shapes and colours theme, if you don't mind... ;-)

kikvel (4784) 2004-12-04 8:06

elihesamian (26149) 2004-12-04 8:07
Very well seen,a fine street graphical shot,it's unique, nicely cropped by your eyes:)
and very well composed, and a strong thing here is "without people and cars" capturing by you, nicely done,Ebbe.
I like it.
DaveLarson (798) 2004-12-04 8:23
Well done - and congratulations for finding beauty in the midst of what some others might perceive as a time of the lack of such (WINTER!).
Guenther (10915) 2004-12-04 8:31
Very well seen, this graphical scene, Ebbe! The traffic light add some nice colour to gray scene. Well seen and done!
RegisMinot (1543) 2004-12-04 8:35
I like the graphism of these tracks. It has a strong power for car drivers in winter, not only scandinavians.
arnabchat (7233) 2004-12-04 9:02
good POV. good graphic elements.
robiuk (10807) 2004-12-04 9:46
Very true colours and good composition, Ebbe.
Superb light and clever cropping.
I like it!
danby1 (3697) 2004-12-04 10:01
i like this very much, very graphic, well done, great shot!
jwmunro (286) 2004-12-04 10:41
Nice use of lines and patterns. I think I might have cropped just a little tighter on the top to remove the road bed of the bridge.
Rockyboy (20598) 2004-12-04 11:08
Almost the snow in Sweden... and a shot with very interesting lines. I like also those 3 traffics lights which looks like alone in the snow. Well seen, Ebbe!
nwoehnl (122) 2004-12-04 11:25
Very well-spotted graphsim you have here, Ebbe. The tracks and lines on the fresh snow make for an appealing compo, and the signposts and bridge in the back are quite pleasantly arranged in the frame. I'm glad you resisted the presumably strong temptation to convert it into b&w, the traffic signals and signs really need to be in color I think.
AmiBe (6042) 2004-12-04 12:49
I like this very graphical picture, the composition is superb with the trafic lights and the bridge on the top.

I am sure that this composition will also like Avigur. It's a perfectly tallied original photograph.

Bien vu , j'aime la composition , le placement des feu dans cette neige est vraiment drôle , tres belle idée .

I like the image very much - it could be a great poster. I am not sure about the frame - it does not make the image look better (My POV).
However I have made a workshop - hope you find it useful.
Thanks for posting

My answer to "going anywhere" is "everybody went home" since there are no cars on this shot... I like how in spite of the emptiness of human presence we can see the story of cars rushing to maybe go get shelter in warm homes and get away from the snow and slippery roads. I love the contrast between the curved lines in the snow and the verticals of the light posts and overpass. Very well seen and done.
maciekda (19895) 2004-12-05 4:13
very nice picture Ebbe, great graphism.. lines and curves, nice composition too, very aesthetic
Dinyar (704) 2004-12-05 4:48
You have the heart of a poet Ebbe.
This is another abstract piece of art you have manufactured through your lens.
Beautiful shot. Don't know if I want the top of the bridge of not, but it is a beautiful shot.
jrj (34843) 2004-12-05 10:27
I like this one Ebbe. Good use of the patterns in the road, the light poles, arrows etc. All details well placed, elegant framing adding to an interesting shot.
Hanssie (10465) 2004-12-05 14:12
Oh well, this is a great one, with the lines and the snow and the trafficlights, very well seen, "abstract winter" !
Kicka (0) 2004-12-05 15:50
Very nice image. Like the graphism. The colors from the trafficlights contrasting to the dirty snow. Wery well captured common and well known scene : )
ChristianS (2997) 2004-12-06 12:37
It's amazing how such a common and simple subject becomes such a great photo and composition. I like it very much! Well seen and captured Ebbe!
khmelins (960) 2004-12-06 14:54
Amazing. Your PP is always a bit too sharp for me but in this one it creates a funny effect: at first glance looks like the traffic lights have just been "planted" there.
I think I'd like to see more of the road on the right, particularly the part in the top right corner. But it would spoil the vertical composition, accented by the traffic lights.
Still i find it a bit too sharp, as the traffic light on the left looks a bit too unreal.
apazevedo (5469) 2004-12-07 14:04
I liked this composition very much, Ebbe! I understand, however, that for people living there, that is not perhaps a nice scenery...; but for me, living in a country where we still have sunny days and temperatures between 6 and 19º C (today...), this is a quite strange and almost unreal scenery. That is also why I liked this composition a lot, very good work!
flydragon (0) 2004-12-07 17:10
also a verry good graphic picture
not usual but nice the way u had crop
with the bridge
Luko (14000) 2004-12-08 11:56
Great, what every technocrat is dreaming about : lots of roadsigns to show the way where noone wants to go, expensive redlights to spend some tax money and no cars to avoid any traffic accident.
Where is this little paradise located?
Maybe we could send some of our local politics as I see it lacks a roundabout (at least)... they're very good at the roundabout game.
As for your pic, it's flawless, your framing choices are specially impressive, such as the way you cropped the bridge or included the roads.
I wonder what is coming directly from the take and what is the result of a later thorough thinking session about the most effective crop.
kajenn (2440) 2004-12-11 21:09
This is great in its simplicity, Ebbe. A very typical Swedish intersection close to and in connection to a 'turnpike'. Could actually be in any city/town I know of. Colors and lines are just fine and the partial inclusion of the bridge at the upper edge explains the traffic pattern. And the snow helps show the intensity. Very well done!
vasionok (137) 2004-12-14 6:30
An excellent example of how everyday scenery can be transformed into a beautiful picture.
Rinie_Hoff (9340) 2004-12-23 18:06
Hi Ebbe, you know I've been 'away' for a while, but that does not mean to say that I did not take a look every now and then.
I thought this was a beauty. The lines, straight more or less, and the bend ones, the street signs and the 'lack' of color except for the traffic lights and signs, make it such a strong graphical picture. Very well framed, too. I like the view from above. A very good one.
JerryBy (123) 2005-03-18 17:53
Amazing ! I really like this subtle colourish touch added by the traffic lights in the middle of this almost B&W snowy world.
idalio (75) 2005-07-31 5:59
Great photo, its very original :) I like the composition. Good job.
alekpet (4663) 2006-01-19 4:13
This one is really really good.
Nice play with the angles, colours on a white background always look vry appealing.
take care, Aleks
pmthanh (676) 2006-01-21 10:48
Very nice composition and POW, I really like your tone B&W.
roconnell (327) 2006-01-21 17:24
Fantastic use of pattern and lines. It looks like a traffic tapestry. The subtle color has a warming effect and with nice accents with the stop lights. Well done.
kael29 (902) 2006-11-19 4:58
An image very graphic as I like them.
Curves and lines and this bridge at the top, which comes to close the image.
ninaL (21348) 2006-12-04 5:17
Impressive POV and the result is rather surrealist. I like it very much. Best regards. Grazyna.
doubay (2093) 2006-12-04 5:50
this photo is very enigmatic with a concice graphical structure. I like especially the contrast between the traffic lights and the snowy, grey enviroment.

Wow.. Stunning... great shot ..i'm speachless.. just adding into my fAV's
