Photographer’s Note
This is another picture of the spire of the Riddarholmen Church. It is situated in the Riddarholmen Island in central Stockholm. A number of Swedish kings are buried here from from Gustavus Adolphus who was killed at the battle of Lutzen in 1632 during thirty years’ war to Gustav V that died in 1950. The church is one of oldest buildings in Stockholm, parts of it dating to the late 13th century. In those days it there was also a greyfriars monastery here.
The building to the left is the Sparre Palace (Sparreska palatset). The palace was built in the 1630ies by Royal Councellor Peder Eriksson Sparre. In the beginning of the 18th century the palace was bought by count Samuel Barck. Then the palace was acquired by David von Schulzenheim, professor of child birth. At the bottom floor there was a maternity hospital with ten beds. In 1776 it was sold to the state and was used by the Admirality Board for nearly 150 years. Since 1967 it is the premises of the Administrative Court of Stockholm, a court that deals with cases, relating to disputes between private persons and the authorities and the like.
The builing to the right is the Western Secondary School. It was built in the second half of the 19th century by the City of Stockholm. The façade of the building is designed by Johan Fredrik Åbom. Today it is the premises of the Market Court that is a court specialized cases related to the competition, marketing and consumer legislation.

Hej Ulf,
I have uploades a few pictures here that I called Stockholm colours. This could have been one of them, because it really captures the colour-scheme of Gamla stan and Södermalm. Besides, you've found a great POV to include the church and its characteristic steeple. And against this incredibly blue sky the colours of the buildings look marvellously "clean". A very good architectural photo.

Hej Ulf,
while I've been contemplating on whether to post a very similar photo which I took in autumn 2005 (also with the blue sky LOL), you posted your version :)
From this POV the church and the adjacent buildings look very impressive, especially on such sunny weather! I fully agree with Gert about special "Stockholm colours" :)

Hello Ulf,
This collection of nice buildings looks great under sunlight and against the cloudless blue sky. In this case the strong vertical perspective gives to the lines the angle that is similar to the spire angle making the image being more dynamical. Very good contrast and sharpness! Great job!

Hei Ulf,
The angle of light adds such a fine 3D feeling to the buildings!
The colour palette is interesting too, where all three colours make such a nice match with the blue sky...
Well composed and the point of view adds good lines!

Hi Ulf,
An excellent POV you chose to show us these interesting and original spire.
The color-combination of the typical Swedish colours of the houses in front in combination with the blue sky are a wonderful setting for the tower.

Ah! Riddarholmen Church with warm Mediterranean colours!
When the sun shines in Stockolm becomes the loveliest city in the world! I like this composition very much, not only because I appreciate this fine arcchitecture and the way you framed it but above all for the charming atmosphere it conveys. The clarity and sharpness are excellent. A very good tribute to your city!

Hi Ulf
I have this same photo from my trip to Scandanavia 2 years ago.
But i didn't get it from this Point of View.
Wonderful photo, b/c you have some warm soft light shinning on the buildings.
The church tower is extremely sharp and focused.
Superb photo
well done

Hi Ulf!
This church spire must be on most panoramic photos of Stockholm, but one can never tire of admiring its elegance, especially when it's so well-captured as here! Your photo is so beautiful, sharp and colourful, and the composition is great with the spire coming out behind the sunny buildings in the foreground!
Congratulations!
Marie Louise.
