Photographer’s Note

The Stockholm archipelago is the biggest archipelago of Sweden, and one of the biggest archipelagos of the Baltic sea. The archipelago extends from Stockholm roughly 60 kilometres to the east. In a north-south direction, it mainly follows the coastline of the provinces Södermanland and Uppland, reaching roughly from Öja island, south of Nynäshamn to Väddö north of Norrtälje. It is separated from Åland (Finland) by a stretch of water named South Kvarken. There are approximately 24,000 islands and islets. Some of its more well known islands are Dalarö, Finnhamn, Grinda, Husarö, Ingarö, Isö, Ljusterö, Möja, Nämdö, Rödlöga, Tynningö, Utö, Svartsö and Värmdö.

A lonely boat is heading home or to an anchor place in the evening with its motor, as the wind has almost totally calmed down.

This panorama is my first experiment in stitching, made out of three photos, which were taken from the deck of the ship travelling from Stockholm to Mariehamn (in Åland).
The place is north-east from the big island Ljusterö. It is near the border of municipalities Österåker and Norrtälje, but I figured out we were on the Norrtälje side. :-)
