Photographer’s Note
The famous statue of presenting St. George and Dragon is located in Storkyrkan — the Church (now Cathedral) of Saint Nicholas in Stockholm. This work is from 1489 and is attributed to Bernt Notke, although there is a dispute of the sculptor. At old times it was often noted who had paid for the work, while the artist was an anonymous craftsman. Saint George and the Dragon is no exception - we know it was paid for by Sten Sture (and 10 of his men), we know the price, and we know who consecrated it - but we do not know for sure the artist. You can read more here.
This photo shows the bronze-copy from 1912-13, moulded by Otto Meyer. It is located in the Köpmantorget square in Gamla Stan. It is a very close copy but some of the parts have been arranged differently from the group in Storkyrkan.
A closer view of the statue itself is in WS.

Good morning, Lasse!
Wonderful street scene - caught in a great but difficult light! You managed it really well and the play of light and shadows is beautiful here. This seems to be an inviting and somehow cosy place.
Greetings from sunny Austria!

Hi Lasse.
A very nice photo. Perhaps the statue is a little lost in this 'busy' scene, but I like that kind of shot that combines architecture and daily life, with some very nice shadows thrown in. It's a really pleasing shot, and I like that perspective effect created by the wall on the left. Good details, judicious crop - well done.
Regards,
Andrew

Hej Lasse,
This is a fine shot from one of the most picturesque parts of Stockholm. I like the liveliness around the statue, people coming and going in different directions, the group in the foreground obviously having some kind of discussion and the elder lady having just noticed something interesting in the street.
The colours are fine and the difficult light is well handled. And in spite of all the people it doesn't make Gamla stan look overwhelmed by tourists. On the contrary it looks as idyllic as 40 years ago.
Bästa hälsningar,
Gert

Hi Lasse. I do like this vignette of life as both young and old come into our field of vision. The light creates lovely effects throughout, from reflecting in the distant windows to shining upon the flowers in front of the antique shop. A refined and pleasant composition. if only the rest of the world was this peaceful and comfortable. Regards. Klaudio.

Human-sized street scenes such as this are great enticements to visit Stockholm, Lasse. The details of ironwork on sign hangings are incredibly beautiful, as is the statue of St. George and the Dragon. Such a pleasing portrait of this place. Thank you. Judy

Hello Lasse,
I like the way you choose compositions for your photos! This is really a very famous view, and I like this place very much (especially on those days when there are no tourists around LOL)
Excellent "Gamla Stan" colours - just as it is! Warm colours, warm, tranquil mood :)
Kindest regards,
Elena

Hello Lasse
I like seeing daily life scenes of Stockholm - usually they are posted by Elena. Really good to see people just going about their lives on a summer's day surrounded by such beautiful architecture. Tfs, Marlene

Hej Lasse,
A more familiar view of Stockholm, where you successfully have included the typical tourists. Good POV and good colours.

Lasse,
This is a great shot of this plaza and statue. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF. The people add a sense of life and scale to the scene. The play of sun and shadow works well in the scene creating nice contrast.

Hi Lasse,
I had a great laugh when I realized what this image is about because I though that you might have dedicated it to TE’s Saint George (aka Polonaise).
A wonderful daily life impression with this pleasant feeling of the Scandinavian summer. Your note is also very interesting, I am convinced that Notke himself was the artist who created this statue. TFS!
Warm regards
Harriet

Hi Lasse,
Another pleasant street view, with the presence of the people making it even more inviting. Beautiful light, that makes the charm of the architecture stand out.
The WS is an excellent presentation of the statue. I find it well composed and admirably well exposed and sharp.

Your photos of Gamla Stan are very bright, crystal clear and very alive. This is no exception. It's so sharp that one has the illusion to be on the scene. I like very much both the composition and the subject(s)- really fine and interesting.
Well done,
