Photographer’s Note
Djurgården or, more officially, Kungliga Djurgården ("The (Royal) Game Park") is an island in central Stockholm. Djurgården is home to historical buildings and monuments, museums, galleries, the amusement park Gröna Lund, the open air museum Skansen, the small residential area Djurgårdsstaden, yacht harbours, and extensive stretches of forest and meadows. It is one of the Stockholmers' favorite recreation areas and tourist destination alike, attracting over 10 million visitors per year, of which some 5 million come to visit the museums and amusement park. The island belongs to the National City park founded in 1995. Since the 15th century the Swedish monarch has owned or held the right of disposition of Royal Djurgården. Today, this right is exercised the Royal Djurgården Administration which is a part of the Royal Court of Sweden.
The present name of the island, Djurgården, stems from the game park of King John III, which he declared the intention to realize in February 1579 to keep deers, reindeers, and elks. In the 17th century a baiting arena was built at the location.
During the late 18th century, Djurgården transformed into more of a popular recreational area than a Royal game park; in 1801, the theatre Djurgårdsteatern was opened, which was to be one of the most popular establishements there during the 19th century. King Charles XIV John's creation of the Rosendal Palace in the 1820s marked the beginning of Djurgården's development into as a stately residential area, paired with the creation of several entertainment establishment in the late 19th century, including Gröna Lund 1883, and Skansen 1891.

Hej Lasse,
This is a very pretty view where Strandvägen looks like it's totally embedded among trees. It's an immaculate composition with that tree and some grass in the foreground and the people in the boat halfway through the picture. You were lucky to be there on a really fine day. Today you would have got a very different photo.

Hello Lasse,
Very nice how the houses of Strandvägen appear in a gap between the trees of the park and the water.
The picture gives the feeling of a very tranquil place close to the city centre.
Very beautiful colours.

Hello Lasse.
A very pleasant summer scene from Stockholm. I like the presence on the water of the small boat with its two occupants, and the pleasing diagonal of the bank in the foreground. Lots of nice shadows cast by the birch tree, and a good perspective looking towards the buildings. Thanks for the interesting note.
Regards,
Andrew

Taking advantage of the foreground shadows provides a nice frame and focus which draws me to study the buildings and fishermen in the background. Being a shade-lover myself, I like the contrasts here. Thanks, Judy

Hejsan Lasse,
what a very familiar view ;) and with a perfect composition, and very lovely natural colours!
Looks like our ideas about choosing compositions for taking photos in Stockholm somehow are rather similar ;) Have a look here!
I like this view very much because it reminds me of old English paintings... paintings of a Gainsborough style!
Hopefully, soon I'll be viewing this with my own eyes (if weather permits)!
Best wishes from Moscow,
Elena

Hello Lasse,
A peaceful place, a lovely park in the middle of the city!
The ducks seem to enjoy the place too, this beautiful day of summer...
A fine point of view, and the background reminds us where we actually are..!

Hi Lasse,
A really inviting view! One wants to be strolling around this lake enjoying the splendid view. The clever use of the margins and the trees, specially the one on the left, avoids that the centred placement of the houses on the bottom is boring. It is a very pleasant image. The WS is a great complement and proves again how nice the place is,

José

Hello Lasse,
Very beautiful luminosity on this resting sight. I like much this point of view on the surroundings of Stockholm. The harmony of the colors is pleasant and the clearness of the image is appreciable. Perhaps, I will have removed the small branches in top on the right, but it is a detail… Thank you for the photograph in WS which shows that this park is a beautiful place for the walk.
With all my friendships and a trèsbonne end-of-day,
Jean-Charles

Hello Lasse,
I couldn't see Djurgården for lack of time (and bad weather) and I know it's one of the "must" of Stockholm... next time!
From your photo it seems and enchanted place. I should say the composition is perfect, with the distant buildings framed by the trees and lake. Fine light and colours, excellent sharpness as usual with you.
Best greetings,
Donato
