This is a third photo of roe deers taken in the area along Fyris River south of Uppsala. This one is taken in mid-June. At this time of the year they have plenty of food and are usually in good shape. This is not always the case in winter when some of them could look pretty skinny.
Roe deers can graze more than 100 species per year. Despite this they are very selective. Roe deers are trying to find the best food with high nutritional content and high digestibility, i.e. food without too high fiber content. In winter they mainly eat small shrubs and heather. But if it is a lot of snow roe deers eat wigs of both coniferous and deciduous trees. Roe deer are no pronounced grass-eaters and herbs such as fireweed cow-wheat and wood anemone are among their favorites Sometimes they also visit gardens and all of a sudden all the beautiful tulips or other garden plants are gone.

The lovely beast is so well framed by the green vegetation. It is perfectly sharp and the light catches so nicely in its eye and makes the whole animals colour stand out. Well captured.

This is also great macro image with good cnatsrt of the sharp main subject with surrounding blurred. His eyes are so cute but seem to be keen.

I have enjoyed all three fotos of roe deers, but this is my favorite, as it places the this deer in context, amid the lush grasses of summer, and in beautiful light, with perfect bokeh. Well done telephoto work! And your note was wonderfully informative!

We experienced that when my daughter was living in Salem : Looked through the kitchen window, and there was a deer eating the tulips !
This is a delightful capture of the deer seen through the reeds, as if he was playing hide-and-seek, but just wanted to have a peep, as he knew he could flee anytime !
Thanks for sharing and best wishes for the New Year ahead.
