Photographer’s Note

In Swedish the word ”Nordsjön” has two different translations!

It can be ”The North Sea” but also ”The North Lake”. This is obviously the lake, but I did think of ”The North Sea” when I saw this sign. I immediately thought of Harry Brandelius who once performed a song about Gamla Nordsjön (Old North Sea).

The lady in front of me here is actually my wife! Yes, I know the TE TOS! No family pictures, please! But what can you do, when she doesn´t want to break her stride when I stop to take a photo. Every time I do that, I have to run to catch up with her again.

I made a WS so you can see what the photo would have been without her. But in my opinion, an added person is always an added interest, whoever it may be!

The photo was taken about one kilometer from the Norwegian border. This is a very remote and depopulated area of Sweden! But when you get across the border into Norway it is quite the contrary. Vestmarka is a living and well populated area with quite close to the capital, Oslo. And most of the summer houses here at Skillingmark are owned by Norwegians!
