Photographer’s Note

This is Röjdåfors Kvarn (Mill). They recieved their first licence to mill in 1697, the same year Charles XII became king of Sweden. The first mill was replaced 1859 by this building which operated until 1960. It is very close to the Norwegian border and serviced both Swedish and Norwegian farmers. It is also right in the middle of the so called Finnish Forest (se my photo "The Finnish Forest" that I uploaded on May 6th) so probably they served the Finnish farmers who lived up in forests on the hills. There are plans now to restore this mill and open a café on the premises. There are lots of tourists coming to this very beautiful area.
