Photographer’s Note
This sculpture, The Bird Man (Fågelmannen) is created by Liss Eriksson, youngest son of Christian Eriksson. It is placed right opposite the railway station and is often used as a symbol for Arvika. The street behind it is Torggatan (Market Street) and it is leading up to the church. The church was built 1909-1911 and the architect was Ivar Tengbom.

Hello Gunnar,
But not the Bird Man of Alcatraz ;-) Good composition of this interesting statue that seems to be attracting a lot of interest. I like the pov looking down the street towards the church and its spire. Good tones and textures.

Interesting picture! I have a faint memory of the Market Street from the 19-fifties that it lead up not only to the church but also to the grammar school ("Läroverket"). But the Bird Man wasn't there in those days! Wasn't the name of him Elis i Tasere?

Hello Gunnar,
Arvika seems to be a lively town these days according to this well composed picture. It was a lot duller 40 years ago when I lived in the house to the right and saw The Bird Man from behind.
