Photographer’s Note
SWEDEN 2.
I hope you all had a happy Easter. I didn't actually go to Sweden this year! The Swedes came to us. But I wanted to post a few pictures as a souvenir of our stay there a year ago, during the arrival of Spring ( A time, when I wasn't a member of TE yet. )
Former capital of Sweden, Uppsala is still the religious capital and has the oldest and best known university of Scandinavia.
The massive silhouette of the castle on top of a hill , is recognisable from afar. It was built by the most famous king of Sweden, Gustav Vasa ( 1496-1560 ).
On the 30th April, the students organise celebrations for the " Valpurgis ", the arrival of Spring, and it's a very interesting , typical time to be in the city.
I am adding a few WS, to show a bit more about the atmosphere during those special days at Uppsala.

Bonjour Marie Louise,

Bonjour, mon amie Marie-Louise,

Hi Marie Louise,
I really good POV. One of the best actually. Perhaps not the best lighting conditions, but in Sweden there are seldom really good lighting condition in early spring. Nevertheless, the colours are very natural and pleasant here.
Cheers,
Ulf

Salut Maloutim, It's back to eggs... Wiki tells us:
""Walpurgis (sw: Valborg) is one of the main holidays during the year in both Sweden and Finland, alongside Christmas and Midsummer. The forms of celebration in Sweden vary in different parts of the country and between different cities. One of the main traditions in Sweden is to light large bonfires, a custom which is most firmly established in Svealand, and which began in Uppland during the 18th century. An older tradition from Southern Sweden was for the younger people to collect greenery and branches from the woods at twilight, which were used to adorn the houses of the village. The expected reward for this task is to be paid in eggs.
The tradition which is most widespread throughout the country is probably singing songs of spring. Most of the songs are from the 19th century and were spread by students' spring festivities. The strongest and most traditional spring festivities are also found in the old university cities, like Uppsala and Lund where both current and graduated students gather at events that take up most of the day from early morning to late night on April 30, or "sista April" ("The last day of April") as it is called in Lund and elsewhere throughout the country. There are also newer student traditions like the carnival parade, The Cortège, which has been held since 1909 by the students at Chalmers in Gothenburg.""
Great to see photos from the celebrations! Very informative. Tfs, Jay

Bonjour Marie-Louise,

Hello Marie Louise, this image is a bit overexposed, at least into my display, but really well done and interesting, the castle is beautiful and you have well done the image with this nice POV and the walking couple, the long serie of workshops are amazing and interesting, compliments.
Ciao

Hola Marie

Ciao,
Donato

Hello MarieLouise,
This massive piece of architecture really stands out, combining newer and older ways of design in an interesting manner!
Good point of view adding fine lines to the composition, and looking slightly upward adds even more impact to the structure...
Greetings,
Pablo -
