Photographer’s Note

This another picture of Common Lilac shrubs (syringa vulagris) the time at the Castle of Uppsala Common Lilac is native to the Balkan pensinula but is now widespread in Europe. In Sweden it is very common and you see them blomming everywhere in parks and gardens in late spring/early summer.

The construction of the Catle of Uppsala started during King Gustavus Wasa in the 16th century. The castle has of course undergone many changes since then. The worst disaster for the castle was the great fire of 1702 when it was damaged to the point of being virtually a ruin. However, it was restored and today it is the residence of the governor.
