Photographer’s Note

This is a Common Lilac shrub (syringa vulagris) near the Cathedral of Uppsala. Common Lilac is native to the Balkan pensinula but is now widespread in Europe. In Sweden it is very common and you see them blomming everywhere in parks and gardens in late spring/early summer.

The Cathedral is the largest church in Scandinavia. The height is 118.7 m. The construction of the cathedral began in the 13th century and it was inaugurated in 1435. It has been restored many times since then.
