This is the Tunnel-bana (metro) of Stockholm at the T-centralen-station. The metro you see is from the blue line.
The metro of Stockholm was founded in 1930. In Stockholm, there are 101 metro-stations. The tunnelbana is 108 km long, and 62 km is under the ground.
This line is almost entirely underground (except one station) and all stations were built in the rocks, 20 to 30 meters underground.
All of these blue line stations have decorated stations, designed by several artists. The T-bana is considered to be one of the most beautiful metro systems in Europe.
About the photo: rotated, increased contrasts, increased the light by the top, sharpened. It is still not very sharp, but the metro was driving and there was not so much light.

Very well captured image of tunnelbanan!! That's my train, you know!!! And it's very well done with being not too sharp. This way the movements of the train are more well pictured. Very nice job.

Must have been difficult to get the proper exposure with the large lamps facing you. Excellent constrasts. Sharpness is just OK. You kept the impression of a moving train.
jjbach (9324) 2005-04-19 9:27
Wonderful shot Stef. The metro stations in Stockholm are really great. As I remember there are also lines under the water between the islands. Very nice composition with fine shrpness and good manage of light. Very well done!
AmiBe (6042) 2005-04-19 9:29
nice picture of this metro.
The exposure is good, not easy with the front lights !
I think it's a good thing that the metro is not very sharp, it gives movement !
The blue frame is a bit disturbing.

Hello Stef, Cool photo...I love the blue tones and nice framings...I like metros...they give you the impression you are in a big important place somehow.. :o)
marrty (235) 2005-04-19 9:57
MoosicMan (1231) 2005-04-19 10:13
What a great job of composition and exposure you have achieved. The end result is very atractive, and it is not distracting at all that we are looking into some very bright lights. Good work!
erdna (5711) 2005-04-19 10:25
Good photograph with a very nice comosition. I like the way the Swedes treated the exposed rock ceiling, painting it with a pattern like fabric design. The place too looks very clean.
weswang (18223) 2005-04-19 11:53
Hi Stef, I like the cave-style frame to this blue toned photo. The reflections on the floor provides some quiet feeling. I am just wondering that how did you managed to drive all other passengers away to take this photo. Well composed and nice contrast.
fiedziu (1764) 2005-04-19 12:25
very well composed
but I dont like this blue frame

carper (96) 2005-04-19 12:50
mmarina (0) 2005-04-19 14:15
He Stef, prachtige compo. Heel apart. Mooi, zo'n blauwe metro. Groetjes, Marina
Stepan (27210) 2005-04-19 14:22
A very blue-tiful composition and the right pov. Well done.
papagolf21 (86156) 2005-04-19 14:39
ChristianS (2997) 2005-04-19 15:00
Hej Stef, nice shot and perspective and very nice composed. Nice using the tunnel leading to the metro as a frame; it also leads the eye towards the train. Well done!
joseelias (0) 2005-04-19 15:18
This is a very creative subway station! The Lisbon subway is being remodeled and some stations are getting quite nice too. But contrary to Stockholm subway it’s almost totally underground except for a few parts in the new lines. Very good exposure control and captivating colors. The frame fits very well the image and it of the rare cases where I like a colored frame.
alvaraalto (6177) 2005-04-19 15:25
Mooie scherpe, symmetrische foto.

maphoto (8082) 2005-04-19 18:50
Hi Stef, interesting metro photo also, excellent point of view and nice framing behind this tunel, very clear for indoor shooting, well done.
singuanti (15250) 2005-04-19 22:46
Hi Stef. What a cool and creative POV. I love the strong blues. That's most impressive that the system built in solid bedrock like that. The lighting is superb as well. Congrats Stef on a truly excellent shot!
cam (9041) 2005-04-19 23:05
hello Stef.Very cavernous look you have there. The colors are sharp and lively. The train is about to leave the station. This point of view is excelllent.Hope you did not miss your train.
john_c (24662) 2005-04-20 1:01
An amazing capture, Stef. Congratulations. The colours are so vivid and you even picked up the subtle lights and shadows on the floor. The POV is unreal. Very well done and most effective.
thohau (919) 2005-04-20 4:17
This is quite a fantastic shot - including the tunnel in your picture was a very good idea. The paintings are beautiful, too. The moving train gives a kind of dynamic to this photograph. Great work!
jmdaoudal (82) 2005-04-20 5:58
Great one for the subject the colors and the framing.
I like it very much.
joaoferreira (0) 2005-04-20 6:50
Very interesting! Here in Rio de Janeiro, we have a similar station in "Copacabana". I'll take a picture one day to show you. hehehe About your picture, I liked the POV, the light and colors. Great job!
jhm (139200) 2005-04-20 7:23
rbcy1974 (20758) 2005-04-20 8:42
Very nicely captured shot of the metro. I would have loved seeing a couple of people rushing in front of it, but I really like the cavernous feeling of it.
fkuhne (106) 2005-04-20 18:29
yeah, good 'frame' :) was that sculpted on the rock? I think you should put a little of 'movement' in the train since it was in movement, but it's ok. Regards!! Felipe.
kent_s (1911) 2005-04-21 3:29
Thanks Stef. At last a Dutch Dane finally show me some facts of the transportation I used daily in the mid 80's.
The pic is fantastic. The blue colors is great. But the most amazing thing is that you managed to take a shot with no people on the station
Very well done Stef
elihesamian (26149) 2005-04-21 5:10
Great interior place you captured in this shot,Stef!
a nice frame you found in there with drawing on celing, and blue train is a geat element here that is your main subject.
well seen and a nice composition you managed, excellent details and sharpness with a fine contrast you reached.
about blue frame,I think could be use from dark blue tonalities,a vivid lively colors dosn't works well for many shots, still,my eyes see your great shot here:)
ash_parikh (2266) 2005-04-22 4:51
Nice composition and grea capture. The blue train looks great here. Nice photo.
hugolef (4909) 2005-04-22 10:20
nice capture of this Tunnel-bana. i like the frame, that gives this round dark frame, like a tunnel ...
but IMO you should choose a lower speed, to get more dynamism . The train seems to be stopped.
A original compo
Fixfocus (9385) 2005-04-23 9:55
Wow,-I missed this one Stef!
Well chosen pov with nice perspective, excellent capture of the light mood here. One of your best pictures I´ve seen so far!
sarju (5324) 2005-04-23 16:30
well I was just adding this photo to my favourites ... thought I should leave a little note too
great shot mate ... I am speechless
PS: It looks like out of a fairy tale or something .. great work
sekay (87) 2005-04-24 7:26
Amazing blue..Cannot resist blue..Always blue..fantastic shot..
Hanssie (10401) 2005-04-25 15:11
Originele plaat !
premels (2400) 2005-04-30 9:07
Amazing underground picture. I think you did a rather good job with the low light here.
The blue frame is a bit too much for my taste.
bazal (7900) 2005-05-04 3:54
Interesting and nice composition you present here. It's an original view on the subway that you've managed to capture. I like the frame made by the foreground tunnel and the general light conditions. Well done !
colinbrenchley (6431) 2005-05-07 5:13
Great impact with this shot here.
skeelerik (763) 2005-05-09 5:44
Nice shot and I would like the train just a bit more blurred to give it the impression of movement. CU, Erik
sroulin (18) 2005-05-14 11:24
Excellente prise, bonne composition.
ewa1 (222) 2005-05-20 9:54
that's a good composition! i like the colours too- this blue train in comparison with the greyish tunnel. TFS,

Great!. But let me make a question. Where is the people? Really I think the picture is better without the people, but... where is?
apazevedo (5469) 2005-06-05 13:18
Hi Stef! I saw the note Lars has in his Introduction, so I came to see your gallery, which contains beautiful photos, like this one!
It is indeed a very good and strong one, as well as a beautiful underground station, well done!
sayzey (2358) 2005-06-18 9:34
Really great photo this, even from the thumbnail you can just tell that its going to be a good shot when you see the detail!
The only thing I'm not sure about is your frame, I see why you have made it blue, I think you have taken the colour from the train for the border, but I still think that the tunnel arch does a nice enough job of framing the train and the shot on its own. Still i really like this!
BlaiseCendrars (0) 2006-01-05 8:15
I think I managed.
Wonderful pic by the way.
P.S. Sorry Stef, I skimmed through my ancient critiques and found this one unmarked, and it's even one of my favorites! Best regards, Chris.
B2B (0) 2006-03-04 15:05
Great, great ...and GREAT !
Voltri (1775) 2006-11-28 8:17
Very nice photo with a pleasant colors combination.
I am wondering if your wagons are produced in Eastern Germany or even in USSR? Because they look too similar to Moscow metro wagons.
salvator (19102) 2006-11-28 8:43
The tunnel, the blue train, and the photo is very well caught and photographed. I liked it very much. Salvator.
branley (3681) 2006-11-28 12:05
I came across your image on the home page and want to say how much I like it. The colours are first rate and you've managed the light very well. I like the way the subject is framed naturally by the arch and that the blue motive matches the train. As with all frames/borders they are very personal but I like this one, it sets off the image very well. Great capture, well seen and one for my favourites.
paura (47166) 2007-05-01 17:49
The composition, with this beautiful blue train in the breakground results great. The T-centralen-station is really an interesting place.
Didi (56863) 2007-05-03 6:09
Very good lights management exposure in this composition.
Very interesting idea.
