boyz in the fog, a photo from Uppland, Svealand

Photographer's Note

This shot was taken near the City Hall today while I was trying to find some more or less interesting (let alone eyecatching) subjects in town on such a rather dark foggy day...

Absence of sunshine makes search quite difficult, but at least, the fog unexpectedly saved the situation a bit :)

Oh yes, we did have some sunshine yesterday!
and I did shoot some photos.. but I'm not satisfied with any of them (subject-wise, of course) - most all of them are only classical views of the city. I'll post some of them later, though.

Also, it's a bit too specific to choose subjects for photos when you shoot with a telephoto lens in town. But it can be funny!:)

In this photo, in the background:
the island of Riddarholmen and the Riddarholmen church (the burial church of the Swedish monarchs) disappearing in the thickening fog little by little.

Those who are curious to see a sunny shot of yesterday can take a look at the Workshop :)

it is nice to see you are back to Stockholm again, it is also nice to see your beautiful work. Not much to do about the weather but i can see that you solved this problem in an excellent way. Pleasant balance in this composition and a foggy Riddarholmen can never be wrong:) Congrats with your new lens!

Hello Elena,
Was it foggy today? I didn't notice, haven't been out all day like most days before Christmas :-)
This is a superb photo and I am convinced it is much better than it would have been on a sunny day. The fog creates a great atmosphere and enhances the colours. The boy (are you sure? In those colours?) and the statue give the composition perfect balance, and the church tower is equally perfectly placed a third from the left. The little sign warming swimmers is a nice little detail.

Ya unfortunate weather but foggy makes so fantastic too. The comparison of the statue and her pose is very interesting too. Her vivid clothes are very goog accent in blurred image.

Hello Elena,

I like the juxtaposition of the pedestrian, bundled up in a Swedish winter, with the casual stance of the larger than life statue. The spire of the City Hall looms powerfully in the distance, albeit through the fog soup.

Une grande différence avec la vue au soleil, mais la brume donne ici un effet intéressant mais le ciel à tendance à assombrir l'image, c'est normal.
J'ai donc éclairci un peu en WS.

I like the sign "no swimming", just in case some adventurous person had a crazy idea.
I also like the contrast between the naked statute and the warm clothes of the person looking at it.

Eh bien, moi aussi je suis à la recherche des statues de Stockholm sur ta galerie. Cela compensera mes lacunes sur cette ville que j'aurais dû visiter plus en profondeur quand j'en avais l'occasion :-(
Qu'il est courageux l' homme nu dans ce froid polaire :-) L'observateur emmitouflé n'en revient pas !
Trêve de plaisanterie, les deux "personnages" donnent un bel effet sur le fond de brouillard dans lequel se perd le clocher de Riddarholmen.
A propos, je ne savais pas qu'on y enterrait les monarques suédois.
Merci du partage, et à bientôt peut-être ?

J'aime aussi la photo complémentaire en WS. C'est ensoleillé et le contraste entre le sapin de noël longiligne à côté du bateau blanc massif est du plus bel effet.
