Photographer's Note
An image for Thomas (mjdundee).
Image taken 2009 from Skepsbron, the harbour road at Gamla Stan. The boat in the foreground is Sea Cloud II.
The boat in the background is the same as the one in the recent posting by Thomas. It is the "af Chapman & Skeppsholmen Youth Hostel".
" 'Sea Cloud II' was christened in 2001 as a modern-day sister to the renowned 'Sea Cloud.' Cruising in northern Europe and the Mediterranean, she recalls a bygone era with her 32,000 square feet of hand-set sails, yet boasts every modern comfort and amenity for her privileged guests." http://www.abercrombiekent.com/travel/?tid=5198
"The af Chapman & Skeppsholmen Youth Hostel occupies a three-masted sailing ship that is permanently moored on Skeppsholmen, an island near the city center. The ship, which entered service as the Dunboyne in 1888, once carried passengers between Ireland and Australia. It was a Swedish Navy barracks ship during World War II and has been an STF youth hostel since 1949." http://europeforvisitors.com/europe/countries/sweden/stockholm-hotels-youth-hostels.htm
A closer view of the youth hostel is posted as a workshop.

Hi Trevor
its a small world - sometimes.
I like your low POV that supports the majestic view of this tallship from Hamburg. Stockholm is the perfect location to present historic ships and vessels.
It is in fact the most relaxed and beautiful big city on this planet that I know - and I have seen quite a lot. Even beautiful Sydney habour looks very busy compared to Stockholm.
Have a nice WE,
Thomas

Hello Trevor ,
Tall ships are not allways easy to photograph . You've chosen here an excellent angle of view : the boat looks impressive and is splendid in the blue sky .

Hi Trevor
really like this shot. The POV is excellent as the lines dissect and frame the view so attractively. Perfectly placed bollard and rope in the bottom left hand corner entices the viewer and of course the light and detail are perfect here. A beautiful image presented irresistibly.
Have a great week - regards Brian.

Hello Trevor,
This is a fine boat, made especially interesting from your pov, which gives special prominenace to the bowsprit and the tall, masts. They make a fine composition, the bowsprit on a diagonal and the masts on a vertical. The red flag adds colour as a focal point. I think a little more cropped from the sky would place the flag perfectly on the 'thirds' line.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)
