Unexpectedly for myself....!

I don't know if I will get another chance of using a computer to come to TE during my stay in Stockholm, so I'm using this opportunity to wish my TE friends and everybody here a HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010 !!

Greetings from semi-drizzling, semi-snowing city where late dawn turns into a grey morning which quickly and imperceptibly turns into a semi-grey afternoon which ends up with total darkness by 3 something PM... LOL

...and we are lucky if it doesn't start drizzling... and if the raindrops don't wash away the snow which we still have here now :)

So far no sunshine!

oh no, I'm wrong! LOL

I caught a slight glimpse of the sun for about 2-3 minutes today while wandering about the pre-drizzly city in the afternoon :-))

Hi Elena,
A very fine picture with the typical feeling of early afternoon in the middle of winter. It really looks cold and snowy here. I hope you will have a nice stay in Sweden and a very Happy New Year to you too!

beautiful warm lights in cold city,
illuminated Christmas tree is very well designed, it looks making nice contrast with back towers, lined lights and other square objects in this scene,
walking people seem enjoying this special season in spite of its coldness,

Zdravo Elena. I can see the poet in you in this lovely scene.The gloom is conquered by the lovely, cheerful lights and even the bus is transformed into a thing of beauty. The couple add a comforting human element. Nicely composed with multilayered elements. Sretna Nova Godina. Klaudio.

Hi Elena,
This is a beautiful postcard from Stockholm in winter dress. The christmas tree is huge. We have the drizzle and the grey skies, but the snow is gone.

That is a real New Year photograph as we European are used to. I will post one from Bangkok as well although without the snow. However there is a commercial where they show Bangkok in the snow. I like your shot, let's hope that we all will have a happy 2010

I find that you have much chance to be in Sweden at that time. You describe a very strong atmosphere of Christmas and change of time. This quasi unreal image is carried out with brilliance. I appreciate the clearness of the details and the control of the exposure. congratulations!

Such a recent photo and such a different scene from where I live. I feel you have captured the atmosphere of this cold destination very well. You have managed the lighting well as everything is clearly visible and yet the scene is fully lit with Christmas lights and street lighting. Hej Elena,
I didn't expect this picture, so it's a nice surprise. It's a photo with a lot of winter atmosphere, so dark, a lot of snow and a huge Christmas tree.The lamps draw my eyes towards Södermalm, where some of the houses - including my office - are nicely illuminated.
And it seems you won't have to worry about the snow disappearing, since the next week is said to be bitterly cold.

Hello Elena,
A lovely post card from Stockholm! A very good composition and an excellent exposure. The photo transmits so well the wintry afternoon mood in a city in such a mostly overcast day. (We had sun for 15 minutes yesterday, not today, it is snowing again.)

Знакомые все мместа такие. Был там как-то 2 января - так холодно мне нигде никогда не было, влажность высоченная.
А снега-то сколько!

Ah, so you are in your beloved Stockholm again!
I like this night photo full of snow and... atmosphere!
It's a sight I couldn't see and for us southern people has a real charm, especially at this dark hours with the artificial lights to warm it a bit. Three things strike my eye and fantasy: the fine christmas tree, the street lamp and the lovely Katarina church. A good photo to conclude the year.

I wish you a very nice stay in Stockholm. (I hope we can shake hands next time, if you want?)
I like your Happy New Year photo very much. You have chosen a very good Pov,the x-mas tree on Skeppsbron and many of the landmarks of Södermalm are visible here. The warmly dressed people give us an idea of how cold it is. I don`t like the bus, which obscures the tree, but it was probably parked here ?

Hi Fanni,

You capture my feeling towards our weather of late, perfectly. I grew up in a place that I used to say had worse weather than Denmark, but I may have to take that statement back if the gray persists. I'm impressed that you created a nice picture despite the lack of sun. Good use of artificial light to make a picture come to life.

Hi Elena,

I guess that you have plenty of winter pictures from Stockholm and really look forward to see it. The photo taken in Skeppsbron when it getting dark is very nice. Your positioning of the lamp-post and Christmas tree (donated by the Kinnevik Group to the City of Stockholm every year since 13 years back. The company,s headquarters is in Skeppsbron) is absolutely perfect and love the inclusion of people that makes the scene vivid. TFS and have nice weekend!

I reckon the city mostly the background so enlightened. Anyway you ever are posting this city. This one has the christmas tree and the bus behind the snow heap reflects the evening lights. All the lights are switched on and the evening seems to be calm.( Opportunately I want to write but so far my mind`s state is recovering from what affects me ). Do not worry anyway!...Your friend.
