Photographer’s Note
the location
Gamla stan (The Old City) is the old town of Stockholm, Sweden. It consists primarily of the island Stadsholmen. It dates back to the 13th century, and consists of medieval alleyways, cobbled streets, and archaic architecture. North German architecture has had a strong influence in the Old Town's construction
the picture
Walking around Gamla Stan I found these lovely painted houses on this lovely little cobble stone square
...and two photographical problems:
- heavy light coming in through a narrow street and
- that damn big tree smack dab in the middle of the little square.
So this is what I came up with.
Sometimes the problem is the solution;-)
I hope you like it!

Hey Benny, this is a bold composition with nothingness of the silhouetted tree taking the centre and such a beautiful interplay of lights and colours in the background

Hi Benny,
Excellently lined up with the tree smack in the middle and persepctive point of buildings located somewhere behind the tree. The lighting and building colours are very unique and interesting. I think the shadows and hints of the tree's crown make me feel like I am in a forest.
Cheers!

Hello Benny,
An interesting split composition, I like the dark colors a lot and the details are very vivid.
