Photographer’s Note
This is the E4 highway southbound from Stockholm. This is what a typical day look like in this area of Sweden this time of the year. Cloudy and snowy. To keep the road free from snow and ice, salt is put on the roads. (I think this works down to about -8 or -9 degrees Celsius, someone who knows exactly? Below that temperature the salt will not work any longer. Then sand can be used instead.) On top of this, all cars are forced by law to have winter tyres, with or without spikes, from December to April. You are allowed to have winter tyres earlier or later if road conditions are such that winter tyres are needed (I think from October to May). I liked the way the road turns like a Z...

This is deceptively lovely, aside from the graphic design (roads shaped like a person with outstretched arms?) there's the hint of colour in various places- pink in the sky, very subtle red / blue in the bridge, adn the road signs. A typical day, I'm sure the motorists on E4 didn't see anything extraordinary - but you did.
