This is a cool idea but it doesn't quite work as it is. I think it could be greatly improved simply rotating the picture to make the rope more diagonal, since diagonals are more appealing to the eye. It would make the image more interesting.
I made a workshop which I think worked out pretty well, feel free to enable workshops, if you wish to see what I mean.

Interesting study of depth of field; great classroom piece to explain its use. Perhaps there are changes that might make it more visually appealling, but I like the idea a lot. Plenty of potential.
