Photographer’s Note
I took this picture in 1962, when I had a summer job at the paper mill at Kvarnsveden. One Sunday I made a bicycle tour to Rättvik, a beautiful village, close to the Siljan lake, in the heart of Sweden.
This church is from the 15th century but rebuilt several times (1703, 1781, 1793). At the church are also several church stables where the parish members could stay overnight. The parish is large and many had a long way to the church.

A young man with an archive - amazing! ;-))
The photo has a wonderful, a skillful composition with this steeple towering the cabins. In combination with your note one can imaginge very ell the Sundays here in former times ....

Hello Gunnar,
I grew up taking B&W photos all my childhood :) As it was impossible to take colour photos at that time, I was very concerned about choosing the best composition for B&W images... Yours has a very good composition. Good contrast and lighting!
Well... "back to the past"? :)
greetings from rainy Moscow!

Hej Gunnar,
A great old photo taken 46 years ago! You had a good eye for composition already back then. The ageless beauty of these stables is enchanting. The carpenters of the past time were able to build houses, which were in harmony with a human scale. The beautiful bell tower is standing majestically in the background. Thanks for sharing!
Greetings from Espoo, which had even a little bit colder than Siegen this morning, +2°C. ;-)

Hej Gunnar,
Motivet verkar välbekant från många vykort. Det är onekligen lite knätofs över det hela. Men bra ändå, för att vara en så gammal bild.

Hej Gunnar,
interesting possibilities for accomodation in front of one church. Nice photo from the good old times (when you was a little boy...). Nice idea, many thanks, friend.

...and I was just on my way out in this wonderful world at the same time.
Hejsan Gunnar, it's great to have this "historical" retrospective image showing that TE is more than a oresent view over the world today.

Hello Gunnar,
A very well composed scene with a nice balance to it. Am I right to assume that this is a scan of an original black and white image? In any event, it is a very good scan with a good range of tones and well rendered textures. Fine piece of work.

Hej Gunnar,
I guess these stables looked old even in 1962. This reminds me of a movie from the 40's or 50's telling a story from the 19th century (except for the people to the right. A good composition and a valuable documentation.
Hälsningar,
Gert
