Sweden (and other countries at high latitudes) is not the best place to photograph the Milky way at. In the northern hemisphere our galaxy is most photogenic and prominent in the summer months, but during the bright Scandinavian summer nights, you can hardly see a single star in the sky even around midnight. However in late August, and further in early September, there are some possibilities when astronomical dusk has arrived. It requires however nights without moonlight and when those nights happen, there must of course also be a clear sky, and thats something you can not always hope for here...
However this year I was lucky with some nights with the right conditions. This image is a panorama consisting of 8 separate frames.

This is truly beautiful. I'd love to know the exposure times for this panorama. We only see a handful of stars here in NYC, so I can only imagine seeing this in person. The arched shape is lovely; this photo has a magical feeling to it.

Hi Peter. Nice to gaze into the heavens now and then, something I sometimes do when I take the rubbish wheelie-bin out in the late hours. Living in the hills away from the city I see lots of stars and zodiac formations. However, nothing like this. What a majestic sweep of the heavens. One senses the immensity of the universe and the insignificance of our way of measuring time.Regards and my compliments. Klaudio.

Beautiful result, it truly is an aw inspiring sight to see the stars laid out like this. I know I rarely think to look up at the wonders above us, but your perfect image and composition here serves to remind me well. Love the light on the horizon and the silhouette of the tree. Thanks for sharing this.
All the best

hello, a marvellous one from nature. The day's best nature-photography frame... I came to know that it was obtained by 8 different photographs and each with 30sec exposer. I would like to know more detail about it. (The ISO and the f-stop used...) overall I enjoyed this beauty captured perfectly with a superb colour tone and clarity... Tfs.
