Photographer’s Note
The traditional way of building fences in Scandinavia is called "Gärsgård". It is correctly spellt "Gärdesgård" but no body talks like that.
These fences are made of the stems of young spruce trees which we have an abundance of. They are tied together with roots or strings of barch. To keep the diagonals from rot they are turned with the root end up as they do not soak up water from the ground that way. The verticals have to have their root end down for stability. They will rot but can be exhanged.
Fences like these have been built for hundreds of years and we like them a lot in the countryside. You can sometimes see them in city suburbs too. The problem nowadays is the price tag as it takes a lot of man hours to build them.

Hi Ebbe,
You have great snow texture in this picture, and a nice note to go with it.
Thanks for sharing,

Very interesting to know it. And a very good composition too, geometrical, with the lines. The snow and wood textures are very well showed.

I have a weakness for old fences and this detail is pleasant to rest the eyes on. Great light, composition and POV. The darker BG and the softness makes the FG stand out nicely.
Thanks,
Magnus
