Photographer’s Note
This is actually a seagull. The idea was to take a shot of the bird flying towards me, but due to extreme tension I missed everything but the wings. Came out pretty nice though...
I adjusted the colour balance a bit, sharpened a bunch and cropped some of the water, but that's all.

After reading your personal intro I begin to understand this shot!
You set it in the categorie "Nature" but it would have been great in "Humour" too! ;-)))
I've looked at it a couple of times and... I think I begin to like it!

This is very funny, but it still feels missing, and awkward to look at. But still funny. Nice colours.

i agree with kiwi that it looks awkward. to me it just appears to be a shot that was a mistake. i can't get past that to see the image as possibly an unintended gem.

I feel that's an interesting crop, anyhow much interesting than a seagull by itself. The best part in this concept photo is that we perfectly see, the round riddles in the water, where the seagull was and we can imagine it a fraction of time ago.
I'll be theoretical and boring : the essence of a photography is "that was" (according to Barthes), I understand yours as a concept illustration of time and photography. this image tries to link the past time (that was) the present time (this is), further, the future time is already known (the seagull's gone). This approach is very similar to a photographer named Denis Roche who's working on time and photography relationship, although no common aesthetics.
This might be taken as an humorous pic, but you selected it while some would have thrown it away, i think there's more in there than what the eye sees immediately.
Still very surprised to find this kind of pic here.
End of boring coment. You may continue, now. Sorry.

I actually quite like this photo. It evokes the sense of the peace is disturbed like you have awaken from a dream and still not remember what that dream is like. I think if the image was sharp this feeling that I have would be gone and it will only be a missed photo.

A mistake? Never! By divorcing the body from the sort of dream-like ideal of flight, you've presented something very interesting. Beautiful iridescent colors as well, adds to the surreal feeling.
