Photographer’s Note
Just about to step on the X2000 from Sundsvall to Stockholm I had to wait a few minutes while the staff got the train ready for us. The Swedish high speed train service X2000 is run by the national railways with these X2 trainsets built by ABB.
The X2 was built to run fairly fast, up to 250 km/h or so, on standard train track using a tiltable body to get around the curves without derailing. The idea was that Sweden with the low population and few trainpassengers could not afford a new set of railways for high speed traffic. The obvious result is that the high speed is obstructed by slower trains. The tilting bodies are also known to make passengers seasick even if te never had any problems on other trains. I can feel that myself sometimes specially when tired and hungry.
The green locomotives on the left are owned and decorated by the cargo division of the national railways, a company called "Green Cargo". Not much to say about that except that it is a bit ironic to see a company owned by Swedish tax payers chosing an English name on a domestic operation. So much was the cultural heritage worth....

The train was beautifully captured in the background of the sky in the evening when brightness remained still.
I have seen this train often with the railway magazine of Japan.
Thanks for your beautiful shot and useful note!

Ah, one of the few remaing HST's on my travel short list, Ebbe. You portrayed it here very dynamically - love it. The loss in definition is nicely balanced out by the atmosphere and the hard contrast. And yes the companyname thing is a bit odd, but to be preferred above a foreign freight operator putting the domestic one out of business. Fine job.

I have a small series waiting for upload, Ebbe, with different trains at Alvesta station, where I've tried to catch the feeling of a busy railway junction. Your shot is mediating more of a northern Winter light and waiting-to-get-on-the-warm-train feeling. Despite the high speed train there's a calm in the image which is very nice. All the lights are beautiful and the composition is great, including the green cargo locomotives. Very well done!

I'm really impressed with colours in this photo. These green, red & yellow in the BG are so full and heavy, so beautiful!
The light in general is very well controlled. Shear pleasure 4 viewing! Thanks,
Robi

Hi Ebbe,
I'm a train lover and I didn't know about that problems you have in Sweden with the X2000 trains, sorry about it. By the way, the picture is quite good; the diagonal is great and I like the colors of the sky much.
Nice shot

Lovely photo, Ebbe! I love trains myself(and their pix of course).
I'd also have to say that the coulours are really great in your photo. As is the light. Well done(and thanx for that great note)!
