Photographer’s Note

I made tour along the middle part of the River Ljusnan in the province of Halsingland. I have already posted three pictures from another place along this river. This is a new place. After a walk down a steep path from the parking this cottage was the first sight. My idea with this shot was to have both the cottage and a glimpse of the river in same the picture. The cottage is most likely privately own summer cottage today, but I guess that in the past it was a place where log drivers stayed. Log driving on the river began in the 1850s and reached a peak in 1937 when 28 million logs floated down the river. In 1960s logging began to suffer from competition from lorry transportation and in 1967 it stopped completely.
