Malmö Stortorg was Scandinavia's largest square with market trading during the 16th century, and even today it gives a magnificent impression with its statue of King Karl X Gustaf, the townhall, the residence, the Hotel Kramer built in the French chateau style, the pharmacy Lejonet and Jörgen Kocks house. Right behind the Stortorget is the small square, where the markethall once was. Today this is a great place to visit when hungry, since there are plenty of restaurants and pubs here. This is also the place where one finds the Form Design Center, that exhibits Swedish industrial design and handicraft.

Malmö, in the southernmost province of Skåne, is Sweden's third largest city with a metropolitan population of about 600,000. It has more parks, gardens and restaurants per capita than any other city in Sweden. Malmö also features many attractions dating back to the Middle Ages. Throughout Skåne there are more than 200 castles and manors, many of them open to tourists, with many of the inns offering provincial cuisine.

Hi George,
What a colourful summer day in Malmö!
I like the way you use the statue and the lamppost to frame the town hall...
A lovely composition with great colours and details, with this stunning blue nordic sky!

Nice one, George, so full of light and colour! I have been there in 2003, remember this square so well. I like your composition with the statue and the lantern framing this beautiful Renaissance building of the town hall.

Cheers
Alexander

Beautiful postcard picture George. I like the leaves on the top of the composition. Very nice framing and colours.

This plaza is something I like about European cities. They all have these meeting places surrounded by beautiful architecture. Nice charming city and picture :-)

Roberto

Nice compostion with excellent colors and shaprness. I like the way you managed to position so many things in the picture : some leafs, the statue, the street lamp. and ther are many nice details to discover thanks to the sharpness;

All the best,

Emmanuel

Hi George - delightful square, I like the ornate architecture and the framing with the leaves on top, I've never been to Malmö, always thought it was a mere transit point between Denmark and Sweden, the weather looks very warm and unnordic, evident in peoples clothing.

Marvelous shot dear well composed placing of a statue in the extreme corner making it splendid

Picking perfect days and great color combinations. I like the touch of shady leafs framing the shot on top. Skane is closer to Denmark in character, which particularly shows in the sunny disposition of it's inhabitants.
Great work, George
Cheers
Otto

my overall evaluation -> :-)))

Hi George,

I can see that Sweden was generous with you during your visit and offered its clearest sky. So here you are with amazingly vivid colours, nice contrasts and great level of details. You have made a good use of the tree over your head to create a frame for your scene as well as the streetlight and statue to keep the eyes into the picture.

Well done Mr. Budapest!

André
Coming back tomorrow :)

Hi George, your colour scheme is great, that is first thing i noted. maybe very slightly over saturated with a slight tinge of orange on the lady at the left. I like how you have chosen the various elements in this scene, with some leave silhouettes at the top. The people add life to a lovely composition. One thing though is the lamp post seems slightly tilted which appears off balance. Wonder if the image would be any different if the post was cropped out? Well done.

Hi George,
Nice relaxed atmosphere, seems more like a sunday afternoon to me. Wonderful architecture no doubt. Beautifully composed with those overhanging branches.

Hi George,
A well composed shot of this historic part of the city. I like the balance here created with the statue area on the left and the little lamp post on the right. The lighting and clarity of detail are superb, and the people appearing here and there warm the scene. Very fine work.

Hi George
The capture of this square has been done with great precision. The compositon works very well and the light is good. I like the framing of the leaves too as the give the shot a good perspective and depth. Good level of sharpness and a lot of details to admire. Good work.

Dear George
What wonderful colours! I like your idea of framing the town hall between the lamppost & the statue & the leaves on the top. Beautifully composed picture. It seems to be quite warm as evidenced from the clothes people are wearing.

Angshu

I like this, George.
The composition is well balanced by having the statue and ther lampost at the far edges of the frame, and I like how you framed the sky with the tree branches.
I like the colourful, bright atmosphere, and everything looks so clean; typically Swedish.
Cheers,
Ben

I like the composition and the perspective. Nice atmosphere in this composition. The light is well managed.
