Kalmar is a city in Småland in south east Sweden, situated by the Baltic Sea. It has 34,000 inhabitants, and is the seat of Kalmar Municipality with a total of 60,000 inhabitants. It is also the capital of Kalmar County, which is comprised of 12 municipalities with in total 236,000 inhabitants.
From the thirteenth to the seventeenth centuries, Kalmar was one of Sweden's most important cities. Between 1602 to 1913 it was the capital of Kalmar Diocese, with a bishop, and the Kalmar Cathedral from 1702 is still a fine example of classicistic architecture. It became a fortified city, with the still mighty Kalmar Castle as the center. After the Treaty of Roskilde 1658 Kalmar's importance diminished, until the industry sector was initiated in the 19th century.
Geographically Kalmar is the main route to the island of Öland thanks to the Öland Bridge.

Hello, George!
Those houses are worth a short shot stop :)
But had I been you, I'd have chosen a lower-angle PoV in order to make the outlines of the roofs meet with more geometry, the angles here are a bit awkwardly put against each other.
You could have squatted for a few seconds, but not in the gutter :O)
The colors are vivivid!!!
Thank U, F'

Bonjour George,
une belle palette de couleurs vives.
Il n'en manque pas beaucoup pour avoir toutes celles de l'arc en ciel.
Un cadrage serré et efficace.
Une photo bien nette.
Best regards.
Daniel.

Hi George,
I was in Kalamar for three days several years ago and it rained all 3 days... so it is nice to see this shot in vivivd colours under a beautiful sunshine!
I just would like to see a bit more of the sky, IMHO you cropped it too tight, nice shot anyway.

Hi George,
Colours, composition, architecture, all nice. great picture...Very well done.
Regards.

Hallo George!
These houses are so cosy, so colourful! You show them from a wonderful angle. I like especially the little door with the roof. A really picturesque scenery!
Greetings from Germany!

Privet,George.Beatiful view. I like that you see colour life always and everywhere.Very positive photo in raining day.
Best regards,
Serghei

This colour combination works really well; a fact realised by the designers of the Swedish flag many years ago.
Seriously, surely it can't be an accident that these neighbouring houses together have the same colours as the national flag.
I think it would be interesting to see an alternative composition taken face on to the ends of the houses instead of at an angle, but even so I think this is very well taken.
Cheers,
Ben

Hi, George
Great diagonal composition with vivid colors, excellent light management, vertical frame, tonality and I like your point of view. I would leave more sky. Great job

Hi George,
Is this toyland? Seems that beautiful! What superb colours. A perfect blue sky to complement those nice looking houses.

Hi George,
Typical scenery from the older part of town!
Colourful and well maintained houses located in peaceful narrow streets...
Primary colours of Kalmar, well seen and nicely executed in this fine composition!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Very nice colours here, George! The POV isn't ideal though, I think I agree with Francois, it could be more dramatic, and also I would leave more of the sky. But the bright colours, the light captured and the sharpness really attract me to this image.

Cheers
Alexander

my overall evaluation -> :-))

Hello George.
The colors are very incredible in your photo. The houses almost look Carribean. Good symmetry acheived between the sloping roofs.
Well done,
Chris

Hi George - the bright colouyrs make it relly cheerful, the architecture is also charming, I wonder if it was possible to stangd furtheyr back so that the roof of the house would not appear to be cut off.

Ola George , fantastica foto , um bonito contraste de cores , bem colorida a tua foto.
Parabens!!!
Um abraço Gonçalo
