Just Another Street Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is Husargatan (Hussar Street) in the part of Gothenburg called Haga. This is also a so called living street, where pedestrians can walk in the middle.

You can see the typical houses here, with the ground level built of stone and the two upper levels built of wood. The bigger house at the center here was built for a very rich metal-sheet worker about 100 years ago. He wanted something extra to show that he was rich.

Today there is a nice café here, Café Husaren (Hussar Café) with the biggest "kanelbulle" you can find in Gothenburg.

This will be my last upload for some weeks!

Hej Gunnar,
I recognize this view very well and I have been to that café a few times. The line of people in the middle and the strong colours among some of them make this a bit different from just a good view of the street. The light shines nicely on the mixture of old and new architecture.

at first, when I saw the thumbnail, I thought it might be a street in Stockholm which I haven't seen yet ;-)
Excellent, very well balanced composition, with the curve of the road leading the eye to those distant houses and a nice light-blue sky with light clouds. Very good, rich and natural, colours (the fact which I always appreciate). And... I really admire your camera!:)

Hi Gunnar,

Nice peaceful street in Gothenburg. Good that there is no cars (still, I see one). it would be nice to sit in the Cafe and have kanelbulle. Nice solid architecture. Good composition of the everyday life. I see that the profamily politics of Sweden give very good resultates. There are many children in the picture!

Again just the right amount of bright red to catch the eye before it wanders round the buildings. I know the Swedes have a reputation for cleanliness, but this is amazing - no litter, no chewing gum anywhere. What do you do with your louts?

Hello Gunnar,

A wonderful shot of the famous university town. What I like best in this image is the enigmatic timing, with three strollers being pushed, and all in line, along with the rich colors. I have known of the institution for years, but this is the first image I've seen of the city surrounding it. If I remember correctly, Sture Allen, a member of the Swedish Academy was on the faculty. Best of all, I had an exchange student from there in my physics classes this past year.

Have you heard Hussard/Husar is derived from the Hungarian word Huszar and spread around Europe (this is one of the few Hungarian words with international carreer).
