Photographer’s Note

This is another photo taken at Näset in Gothenburg.

Along shores and beaches you very often find this kind of life saving equipment. You have seen them in many of my pictures here on TE, very much because I like the red elements in my pictures.

Sweden is a very safety oriented nation. Safety belts for car is a Swedish invention and were first introduced in Volvo in 1959. Cyclists are recommended to always wear helmets. Children who play near water should wear life jackets. There is no end to the authorities´ care for the safety of the citizens.

Hi Gunnar (again;-)!
Great, really great. The composition is outstanding here. The inclusion of this wonderul and impressive cloud makes this picture something special. The colour of the rock gives a gorgeous contrast to the blue of the sky. Only some "ingredients" - but a really worth-seeing photo!

Hej Gunnar,
I confirm: Sweden is a very safety oriented country! :) I can't help welcoming it. (Unfortunately I can't say the same about Russia where the situation is quite the opposite!)
At the same time, this photo looks a little funny to me- not because of the "red element" but because of the composition: this huge white cloud among the others in the blue sky is a very funny BG for the "red element" in the FG :)
Here we see an interesting combination of dynamism (clouds in the BG and the diagonal slope) and static nature (rock).
Excellent light management and very good rich colours! I begin to envy your camera ;)

It's a great shot, especially that the equipment is on the rocks, there's no water in the capture...But this is Sweden, safety first...wait if there's tide up...

Hello Gunnar,

The colors and textures are very impressive in your photograph, and indeed the bright red pole and life preserver add dramatic contrasts to both the rock formation and the magnificent cerulean sky. The cloud formation is a bonus, seemingly bursting out from the dome of the rock. Finally, I am grateful for the informative note.

Hello Gunnar,
An unusual and interesting landscape composition with good tonal contrasts. The life belt station adds a different dimension but I especially like the lovely and unusual cloud over the hill; this is the star for me. Very good light, colours and sharpness. It is possible to have too much of a good thing you know ;-)

Hello Gunnar,

Having spent much of my life with small children, their care and safety education is paramount.
I like your shot for several reasons. Like you, I find that red always enlivens a shot, the clouds are those that you pray for when doing photography, the sharp details are excellent and you have great saturation.

This has to be one of your best contributions. It's so simple, but that combination of red elements (including the ladder and the pole) against the naked rock and that peculiar cloud, and the blue sky above, is simply outstanding. You have certainly come a long way since joining TE.

A wonderful composition! That impressive cloud on the background of the ladder and pole and the diagonal of the rock are really attractive. I also like the textures of the rock, which are so clearly visible in your razor sharp photo. Perfect light management and very good colours. Bravo! Thanks for the note as well.

Hi Gunnar, I noticed it already in your previos picture that the children catching crabs were wearing jackets. Now I understand why. I think it very wise. A bir surrealistic this equipment on the rock. I like the view of the cloud - it is so white1

Good morning, Gunnar.
The title and the thumbnail made me expect to see an explosion! The reality is much better. The spreading cloud is a great background for the tall pole, the amount of red is just right, and perfect against the colour of the rock. Another great picture with interesting note.
