Photographer’s Note
This photo is dedicated to Harriet ”Kielia”, as it shows the connection between Gothenburg and Kiel, in the form of the ferry line between these two cities.
In the background here is one of them, m/s Stena Germanica. Her sister ship, m/s Stena Scandinavica, is at the same time resting in Kiel. Both ships depart at 19.00 and arrive at 09.00 next day at the other port.
This ferry trip is a very convenient way to reach the continent. If you are lucky, you can be on the Autobahn at 9.20. Then you can drive nonstop through Europe, at least until about 10 o´clock, when you reach the first ”Stau” at Elbtunnel in Hamburg.
This picture is taken from a small ”boat museum” outside this famous restaurant.

Hi Gunnar, interesting comparison of these small sailing boats and a ferry. Indeed, such a ferry is a good way of travelling. I went from Gdansk to Nyneshamn and I liked the journey very much. After a night in a cabin, we still had time to relax and to enjoy the view of approaching Sweden. The connection with Ystad is also convenient.
warm regards

Anyway, I always like photos of boats, and this one is very pleasant :) Very smartly composed photo, and beautiful colours!

Good morning Gunnar!
Always again an amazing and somehow a little bit exciting sight for a landlubber. Here I like especially this contrast between these wind powered boats and the huge ferry. I think in your sample calclation you would be able to arrive at Jagdhaus at 4 p.m. ;-)Have a sunny Sunday!
Greetings from sunny and warm Siegen!

Hello Gunnar,
A well composed image with lots of interest; the yes move naturally from the initial focal point of the three foreground boats diagonally across to the much larger ferry. The image benefits from a pleasing light and some nice reflections.

Hi Gunnar.
Good dedication, as it also looks a bit like a Harriet shot, with its nice lighting and nautical subject. I like the hue and the colour tones, generally the 'mellow' atmosphere of the picture. You composed it well to place the smaller yachts in the foreground of the picture, with the large ferry in the background. Nice work.

Andrew

You have captured a very impressive light and the juxtaposition of the different vessels is fantastic. The image reminds me of wonderful days at Gothenburg!

Hej Gunnar,
This is indeed a very fine photo. Most of all I like the exceptionally fine light, but the diagonal composition with the small boats balancing the huge ferry is also impressive. Another fine feature is the vertical lines created by the masts and the poles in the foreground.

What a superb view, Gunnar. The dark sky shows up the whites of the boats perfectly. I like the tapered masts of the yachts, so much prettier than the cylindrical ones used so often now.

Bonjour Gunnar.
J'aime particulièrement la partie gauche de cette photo avec ces voiliers, leurs reflets et les édifices du port. La partie de droite, celle du ferry a pour elle la bonne lumière sur ce géant des mers.
