Photographer’s Note
Hello folks.
I got inspired to post this photo because I just saw a photo of a snake here on TE. Some weeks ago (about a month earlier than they use to show up) there was this black viper in the ditch just across the road from our house. At this time of year they are not very active. They lie in the sun and try getting warm. The first day we saw this ‘guy’ there still was some snowy parts just outside its ‘home’. This particular photo is taken in SuperMacro mode and the snake’s head is just about 5 cm from the lens. I wonder what came through its mind when this big eye (the lens) approached. The head of this viper is approx as big as a regular nail of a human finger. The total length of the snake is 50-60 cm. Here in Sweden the vipers are the most dangerous snake there is, but I believe they are more afraid of you than you have to be of them.
Here you can read more about the viper. Link takes you to Wikipedia.
In this WS and in this WS there are two other POV:s of the viper.
Enjoy !?!

Hej Per,
A fantastic photo, very sharp and detailed! I don´t think I´ve ever seen a black viper in real life, and I much rather prefer to study it here. A remarkable picture!
Hälsningar och trevlig helg
