Photographer’s Note

Hello folks.
This photo is from the archive. Two years ago we went by a ‘tourist’ boat and explored our own archipelago, the ‘Tjust skärgård’ (Tjust archipelago). The boat was an old fishing boat converted with benches or simple chairs and took no more than 15 passengers. All seats were outside. In case of rain you had to use an umbrella. But we were lucky, that day it was a beautiful summer’s weather and it was also very calm.
There are a large number (at least four digits, my guess) of islands in the archipelago, of course in different sizes. I tried to find out but couldn’t get any facts.
This island however, is called Stora Grindö. Translation: Stora = big or great, grind is a gate you open but I don’t know if it really means it here. The letter ö means island.
Here on this island we had a break and the fisherman, who also was the owner, and chef, of the small restaurant, served us smoked salmon. Beside the restaurant there was a shop where you could buy his different types of smoked salmon.
This island has got a lot of small red houses but there are only in two of them that people live the year around. The rest of them are used as summer houses.
Beautiful natures, fresh air, beautiful weather, nice people, terrific lunch, and a pleasant ride with an old fishing boat, what more can you ask for?
In the WS I have a photo of the shop RÖKT LAX (smoked Salmon) and the Restaurant LAXBOA. The link is unfortunately only in Swedish.
