Arriving in Sweden

This picture shows you the bridge between Danmark and Sweden, Øresundsbron, that my father and I took when we went to Sweden, about one and a half week ago. The picture is taken from inside the car.

Øresundsbron (Oresund Bridge) or to use its official name Øresundsförbindelsen (Oresund Connection) connects the cities of Copenhagen and Malmö, or more precisely Kastrup and Lernacken. Seen from Danmark, the first part of the connection is a tunnel, from Kastrup to the artificial island Peberholm, and the second part is the cable-stayed bridge you can see here, from Peberholm to Lernacken.
The bridge has one of the longest cable-stayed main spans of the world (490m), the pillars are 204m and the total length of the bridge is 7,845m. Together with the road on Peberholm and the tunnel, the total length of the connection is 15,9km.
The construction of the bridge costed more than 30 billion Danish kroner (more than 4 billion euros). The bridge was opened in July 2000 by Queen Margrethe II of Danmark and King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.
The connection is a toll road and it costs you 235DKK or €32,- to travel over the bridge.
The European route E20 runs across the bridge.

In connection with the construction of the bridge, the transnational region Øresundsregionen (the Oresund Region) was created, consisting of the Danish island of Sjælland (Zealand) and the Swedish county of Skåne (Scania).

I hope you like this picture.
