Photographer’s Note

Helsingborg is a city in Skĺne County in the southernmost part of Sweden, which has a population of 91,457 (2005). Helsingborg is the centre of a region of about 300,000 inhabitants of north-west Skĺne. This arguably makes the Helsingborg area the fourth largest metropolitan area in Sweden.

Helsingborg is Sweden's closest point to Denmark, with the Danish city Elsinore (Helsingřr) clearly visible on the other side of the strait of Öresund about 4 km to the west.

On the foregroun is visible a Helsingborg's Town Hall (Rĺdhuset) located next to the main square (Stortorget). It was built in neo-Gothic style, with towers and pinnacles, lavishly decorated facades and a 65-metre-high bell tower, from which melodies can be heard across the city at 09.00, 12.00, 15.00, 18.00 and 21.00 every day. The Town Hall, completed in 1897, was designed by the architect Alfred Hellerström.
On the left side of this picture in the background you may see a Kärnan castle with 34 metres high tower. That`s two most impressive objects in Helsingborg.
