Photographer’s Note
On my way up to bed at 1AM this summer, looked out the window and saw this amazing surrealistic view to the North. Found out later they are called Nocticulent clouds and are a quite rare phenomena occurring only at high latitudes during summer months. I live between Helsingborg and Angelholm in Sweden.
To shoot it required a tripod of course, 5 second exposure and a remote to trigger the shutter. This picture is not manipulated in any way except for sharpening to enhance the details.
I am somewhat limited with the composition since there is a unaesthetic barn to the right and just zooming in on the sky by itself looks rather boring.
I like this because there is a spooky, ominous beauty to it and also because at that time of night the highway behind our house is dead quiet for minutes at a time- but you can't hear that special silence in the photo..or can you?

The composition works really well; sometimes it's good to have limitations so that you make the most of what you've got. The focus is on the sky but the forest gives it a context. Magical.

Hi Adam. Congratulations on your first TE post. It's a great one. The light and texture of the sky is truly amazing!! The exposure is good like this, I think.
A very special atmosphere here.
Best regards,
Henrik.
