Photographer’s Note

The Onsala peninsula, south of Göteborg on the Swedish westcoast, is famous for the "royal pirate" Lars Gathenhielm. He and his wife Ingela are buried in this crypt at the church of Onsala. Lars only became 29 years old, but he was obviously prepared to die young, as he himself ordered these marble sarcophagi from Carrara in Italy. The crypt is often visited by tourists, especially durning summer time.
