Photographer’s Note

I saw this boat outside the Varberg Fortress. I thought immediately of the old folksong from Åland (Swedish-speaking part of Finland) with the lyrics (as translated by me):

Who can sail without wind?
Who can row without oars?
Who can part from his (her) friend
Without shedding tears?

I can sail without wind
I can row without oars
But cannot part from my friend
Without shedding tears

I like these sort of minimalist compositions of a single subject taken close-up. You have chosen a good perspective here and captured the tones and textures in the boat beautifully. Excellent framing as well.

Hello Gunnar,

This a beautifully sharp shot, the boat really leaps out of the picture at you.

The green FG acts as a perfect foil to the dark brown of the boat, and the blue of the sea behind.

Beautiful photo of this boat and a good POV and composition. Great with these three layers of colours. Maybe the parts with stones and vegetation are slightly overexposed. Adding a bit of contrast might help. Fun to see (and how well you manage)that you always tries to find a song title in your photo titles. Well done.

A very well done composition with minimum of elements. Sharpness is perfect & contrast between the black wood of the boat with the blue of the water very appealing. The slightly angled POV makes this a beautiful shot. I like your note with the folksong...beautiful!

Nice composition with the lonely boat.everything fine,just two little things.
I would have placed the boat even a bit more to the lower right corner and showed more of the sea.

Mycket fin komposition, bra färger med olika horisontella band, gräs, sten och vatten. Båten mycket välplacerad.
